This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for a secure, ready-to-use Redis 8.10 in-memory data store with the Redis Commander web UI. Speed up your apps with a fast cache, session store or queue, with unique passwords for every instance.
Redis is an open source in-memory data store used as a cache, database, message broker and session store. Applications use it to answer requests in microseconds, keep user sessions, queue background jobs and count things in real time. This image gives developers a ready Redis server in minutes, with a web UI for looking at your data.
What is included: Redis 8.10.1 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with persistence to disk, and Redis Commander on port 8081 for browsing and editing keys in the browser. Security is on by default: no password ships in the image. On first boot every instance sets its own Redis Commander password, Redis listens only on the server itself with protected mode on, and SSH accepts key-based login only.
What you get on top of the free software: a pre-built and tested image that is ready in minutes, a unique security setup for every server, simple scripts for changing passwords, regular image updates, and help by email whenever you need it. Redis is open source software available under AGPL-3.0, and Redis Commander under MIT. Redis is a trademark of Redis Ltd. This image is an independent build by ProvenCloud.
Highlights
Ready in minutes: launch the instance, open Redis Commander on port 8081 and browse your keys from the browser. Redis 8.10 is already installed and tuned.
Secure by default: no shared or default passwords. The Redis Commander web UI gets its own password on first boot, Redis itself listens only on the server, and SSH accepts key-based login only.
Fast data for your apps: caching, sessions, queues, leaderboards, rate limits and pub/sub, with data saved to disk so it survives a restart.

Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay the vendor's software fee by the hour, billed per running instance. Each dimension matches one Amazon EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the size and family you pick. Options span general-purpose (M, T), compute-optimized (C), memory-optimized (R, X, Z), storage-dense (D, I), and accelerated (F, G, P, Inf, Trn, VT) families, across many generations. Larger sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates. Software runs on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, with no license key required. You also pay AWS separately for the underlying compute and storage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for the hourly rate, since Redis itself is open source with no license key?
The hourly rate covers the vendor's pre-built machine image. It runs Redis Open Source 8.10.1 with five bundled modules and the Redis Commander web interface on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. No license key is needed. You still pay AWS separately for the compute and storage your instance uses.
Am I charged the software fee when my instance is stopped or powered off?
The software fee meters per running instance-hour. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Charges resume once the instance runs again.
Does the hourly software rate change based on how much data I store in Redis?
No. The rate is tied only to the EC2 instance type you choose, billed per running hour. Your data volume does not change the software fee. Storage capacity and data size are handled by the AWS storage charge, which is separate from the vendor's hourly software fee.

Vendor refund policy
Software charges are billed hourly, only while your instance runs. You can stop charges at any time by terminating the instance or cancelling your subscription. Charges already incurred are not refundable.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Once the instance is running, open Redis Commander at http://<instance-public-ip>:8081 and sign in with admin as the username and your instance ID as the password. You can also connect over SSH with the username ubuntu and your Amazon key pair.
Required inbound ports: 22 (SSH) and 8081 (Redis Commander). Redis itself listens on port 6379 on the server only. For security, allow ports 22 and 8081 only from your own IP address.
Your instance ID is shown in the EC2 console, for example i-0123456789abcdef0. Every instance sets its own passwords on first boot, so no two instances share a password. Allow two to three minutes after launch for the first-boot setup to finish before you sign in.
Connect your apps: run them on this server and use 127.0.0.1:6379, or reach Redis safely through an SSH tunnel. If you want remote clients, set a Redis password and change the bind address in /etc/redis/redis.conf first. Change the web UI password with sudo bash /home/ubuntu/iscripts/pass_rediscommander.sh, and run redis_status.sh to see versions and memory use.
