This listing is free to use, so the software itself carries no charge. Pricing here reflects the AWS EC2 instance type you choose to run it on, billed per hour. Each dimension names one instance type, from small general-purpose sizes to large memory-, compute-, storage-, and accelerator-optimized machines, including bare metal. Your cost scales with the instance's size and hardware class. You pick the instance that fits your workload, and you pay only for the hours it runs. No commitment term applies to the software.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly charge for each instance type actually cover?
The software itself is free, so the hourly rate reflects only the AWS EC2 instance type you select. Each dimension names one instance size and hardware class. You pay for the hours that instance runs, at the rate AWS sets for that instance type.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
Charges apply per hour while an instance runs. A fully stopped instance does not accrue instance-hour charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the hourly compute meter counts running time only.
How do I choose between the many instance type dimensions?
Each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, grouped by purpose: general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and accelerator or bare metal options. Match the instance to your workload. Cost scales with the instance's size and hardware class, so pick the fit that suits your performance needs.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
