You select the instance that fits your workload, and billing reflects only the hours it runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The software carries no license charge. Each hourly rate maps to a specific Arm-based (Graviton) EC2 instance type you run. You pay AWS for the compute time of the instance size you launch, not for the Ubuntu image itself.
Hourly charges apply only while an instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance stops accruing hourly compute charges. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the running-time meter pauses when the instance is not active.
Each dimension is one EC2 instance type running for one hour. Families cover general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and GPU-enabled workloads. Sizes range from nano and medium up to metal and 48xlarge. You pick the size matching your workload, and billing counts hours that instance runs.

For Ubuntu Cloud Guest it is suggested to manually configure your Security Group/Firewall settings. The 1-Click Security Group opens only port 22 so that you can access your instance via ssh using login 'ubuntu'. If you chose the 1-Click Security Group, you may change it later to enable applications using the AWS Console or API.
