This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for a secure, ready-to-use Jitsi Meet video conferencing server. Host private video meetings in the browser, with no downloads for your guests, with unique passwords for every instance.
Jitsi Meet is an open source video conferencing platform that runs in the web browser. People join a meeting from a link with no download, or from the Jitsi apps on phones and desktops, and hosts can share their screen, chat, use a lobby and lock rooms with a password. This image gives businesses, schools and teams a private video meeting server in minutes, so calls run on a server you control.
What is included: Jitsi Meet 2.0.11146 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with the Jitsi Videobridge, Prosody and Jicofo, Nginx with HTTPS on port 443 and Webmin 2.660 for server administration. Starting a meeting requires a sign-in, so strangers cannot use your server to host their own calls, while guests can still join from your links. Security is on by default: no password ships in the image. On first boot every instance sets its own meeting-host and Webmin passwords and new internal component secrets, and SSH accepts key-based login only.
What you get on top of the free software: a pre-built and tested image that is ready in minutes, a unique security setup for every server, simple scripts for changing passwords, regular image updates, and help by email whenever you need it. Jitsi Meet is open source software licensed under Apache-2.0. Jitsi is a trademark of 8x8, Inc. This image is an independent build by ProvenCloud.
Highlights
Ready in minutes: launch the instance, open https://<public-ip> and start a meeting. Guests join from a link in their browser or the Jitsi apps, with no account needed.
Secure by default: no shared or default passwords. Only signed-in hosts can start meetings, every instance sets its own host and Webmin passwords and new internal secrets on first boot, and SSH is key-only.
Meet your way: video and audio calls, screen sharing, chat, raise hand, lobby and meeting passwords, with your meetings running on a server you control.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you run this software on. The software itself carries no license fee, so your charge reflects only the compute size you pick. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, grouped into families like general purpose (m, t), compute (c), memory (r, x, z), storage (d, i), and accelerated (g, p, f, inf, trn). Larger sizes within a family cost more per hour. You scale cost up or down by choosing a size to match your meeting load.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get when I pay the hourly rate for an instance type?
You get a pre-built machine image running the video conferencing software stack on Ubuntu 24.04. The software is open source with no licence key. Your hourly charge covers the instance type you select, which maps to a set amount of CPU, memory, and networking capacity.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my instance is stopped?
The hourly charge meters running time. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the software hourly fee. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the 20 GiB root volume while the instance is stopped. Start the instance again and hourly metering resumes.
Does the hourly price change based on how many meeting participants I host?
No. Billing tracks instance-hours, not participants or meetings. Participant load affects which instance size you should pick, not the per-hour rate for a given size. You control cost by choosing a size that matches expected demand, then changing size if your load grows.

Vendor refund policy
Software charges are billed hourly, only while your instance runs. You can stop charges at any time by terminating the instance or cancelling your subscription. Charges already incurred are not refundable.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Once the instance is running, enter https://<instance-public-ip> into your browser and accept the certificate warning (the image starts with its own certificate until you add a domain). Enter a meeting name and, when asked, sign in with admin as the username and your instance ID as the password to start the meeting. Share the meeting link with your guests; they do not need an account. Webmin is on port 8000, so open http://<instance-public-ip>:8000 and sign in with admin as the username and your instance ID as the password. You can also connect over SSH with the username ubuntu and your Amazon key pair.
Required inbound ports: 22 (SSH), 80 and 443 (Jitsi Meet), UDP 10000 (audio and video) and 8000 (Webmin). For security, allow ports 22 and 8000 only from your own IP address.
Your instance ID is shown in the EC2 console, for example i-0123456789abcdef0. Every instance sets its own passwords on first boot, so no two instances share a password. Allow two to three minutes after launch for the first-boot setup to finish before you sign in.
For production, point a domain at the server and add a trusted certificate so browsers do not show a warning. Change the host and Webmin passwords with sudo bash /home/ubuntu/iscripts/pass_jitsi.sh or pass_webmin.sh, from the same folder.
