Self-hosted UniFi Network Server (Controller) on hardened Base OS. Manage APs & switches from AWS.

    Overview

This product has charges associated with it for seller support. Deploy a self-hosted UniFi® Network Server (formerly the UniFi Network Controller) on AWS in minutes. Built for MSPs, IT teams and multi-site businesses who want to manage UniFi access points, switches and gateways from their own cloud infrastructure, exposing a home server, or hand-building the MongoDB and Java stack the application requires. This image ships a hardened OS base with all prerequisites staged; on first boot it installs the latest UniFi Network Application directly from Ubiquiti's official repository.

Why self-host your controller on AWS

A cloud-hosted controller gives every site a single, always-reachable management plane. Remote APs adopt over the internet via the inform URL, firmware and provisioning roll out centrally, and you keep full ownership of the controller data backups, retention and access are on your terms.

What you get out of the box

    • Hardened base OS with CIS-aligned configuration
    • Correct ports pre-configured and documented: 8443 (web UI), 8080 (device inform), 3478/UDP (STUN), 10001/UDP (discovery), with matching NSG guidance
    • HTTPS ready: Let's Encrypt integration script included for a trusted certificate on your controller hostname
    • Automated daily controller backups to a location you choose, plus autobackup retention pre-configured
    • Automatic OS security updates enabled; image rebuilt on a regular patch cadence

    Common use cases

    • MSP multi-tenant management: one controller, many client sites, layer-3 adoption over the internet
    • Multi-site business: branches, retail locations or campuses under one management plane
    • Migration target: restore an existing controller backup and repoint device inform URLs

    Sizing guidance

Up to ~50 devices: t3.large. Up to ~250 devices: t3.xlarge. Larger estates or heavy DPI/statistics retention: t3.2xlarge with Premium SSD.
