You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run for this managed single sign-on service. Four instance options are available: t2.micro, t2.small, t2.medium, and t2.large. Each step up moves you to a larger compute size with more processing capacity, and the hourly rate rises accordingly. Pricing is usage-based, so you are charged for the hours your chosen instance runs, with no upfront commitment. You select the instance size that fits your workload and can adjust as your needs change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
You pay by the hour only while your instance runs. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software license meters running time only.
What differs between the four instance sizes for this single sign-on service?
The four options — t2.micro, t2.small, t2.medium, and t2.large — offer increasing compute capacity. Each larger size adds processing power for handling more concurrent authentication load. The hourly rate rises with size. You pick the size that matches your workload and switch as needs change.
What does this managed single sign-on service handle, and what stays my responsibility?
The service provides hosted, managed single sign-on using open standards like SAML, OIDC, and OAuth, with federation support. Vendor experts handle maintenance and upgrades. You still configure your own application connections, directories, and multi-factor authentication integrations to fit your environment.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
It will take several minutes for newly launched instances to fully initialize. Once initialized, you can access the web application at https://<instance ip address>/admin. You can login using username: admin, password: <EC2 Instance ID>. For more information, please visit the documentation site at https://docs.9starinc.com/elasticsso-team/getting-started/.
