You pay based on Monthly Active Devices (MADs), the count of unique devices running your protected app each month. Each app is billed separately. If an app stays within 1 to 15,000 MADs, it counts as one flat unit. Above 15,000 MADs, you pay per 100 MADs, with a set rate for each usage band. The bands rise in steps: 15,001 to 100,000, then up to 500,000, 1,500,000, 3,000,000, 10,000,000, 30,000,000, and beyond. Usage is billed monthly, so higher device activity moves you into the next band.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one Monthly Active Device (MAD) for billing?
A MAD is a unique device that runs your protected app at least once during the month. Each unique device counts once, no matter how often it opens the app. If you release an app without protection or set its status to OFF, those devices are not counted.
How does cost change when my device count crosses into the next MAD band?
Below 15,001 MADs, each app counts as one flat unit. Above that, you pay per 100 MADs at the rate for the band your total falls into. Crossing a band boundary applies the new band's per-100 rate. Higher device activity moves the app into the next band automatically.
If I have one app on both Android and iOS, how am I charged?
Each app version is billed separately. An Android version and an iOS version count as two apps. Each app's MAD total is measured on its own and placed into its own usage band, then charged accordingly.
