You pay by the hour for Windows Server 2025 Datacenter, billed only for the time each instance runs. There is no upfront commitment. Pricing scales with the EC2 instance type you select. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance size, from small shared-core options through large memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-focused machines, including bare-metal and high-memory variants. Larger instances with more vCPUs, memory, or accelerators carry higher hourly rates. The software cost applies on top of standard AWS infrastructure charges. Choose the instance that fits your workload size to control total spend.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for a given instance type?
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the selected type, billed per hour. The rate covers the Windows Server 2025 Datacenter software license for that single instance. Each instance you launch meters separately. AWS infrastructure charges for that instance apply on top of the software rate.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped?
The hourly software rate meters only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay standard AWS fees for attached storage or other resources tied to that stopped instance, but the license charge applies to running time only.
Does the AMI ship in Chinese, and can I switch it to English?
The default display language is Traditional Chinese. You can change the operating system display language to English (United States) during first boot using a PowerShell user data script. This adds one reboot, so initial startup takes slightly longer. The language choice does not affect the hourly rate.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Note: For all Avora Windows AMI products, the default login username is Administrator.
Remote Desktop Connection
What to expect
First boot time: the instance may take 5-10 minutes to finish initialization before RDP is available.
How to connect: use Windows Remote Desktop (mstsc) or another RDP client, open the .rdp file from the EC2 console, and sign in with the Administrator account and the decrypted password.
Security: ensure the instance security group allows RDP (TCP 3389) or use a secure bastion/jump host. Use the EC2 console to decrypt the initial Administrator password.
To change the OS language to English (en-US) at first boot, provide a PowerShell script as user data when launching the instance. This change triggers an additional system restart and increases initialization time.
Paste the script into the User data field when launching the instance in the EC2 console. Because the script restarts the machine, expect a longer first-boot time.
