Overview
This product has charges associated with it for seller support. This is a premium Datacenter Edition AMI expertly localized for Chinese-speaking regions and engineered for high-performance cloud workloads. Moving beyond legacy BIOS, this image utilizes a modern UEFI + GPT partitioning scheme, ensuring superior boot efficiency and compatibility with the latest AWS instance types.
To maximize your productivity, we have pre-consolidated all critical system patches, eliminating the hours typically spent on Windows Updates after launch.
Key Performance & Security Hardening
- Infrastructure: Modern UEFI + GPT architecture with a 2GB reserved WinRE partition (WinRE disabled for stability).
- Security: Hardened security posture with TLS 1.2 enabled; legacy protocols (SSL 2.0/3.0, TLS 1.0/1.1) and SMBv1 are disabled by default.
- Performance: System settings and services have been fine-tuned for optimal performance, ensuring efficient allocation of physical RAM and CPU cycles.
- Dual-Language Flexibility: Native Chinese interface with a pre-installed English language pack. Administrators can easily switch the UI language via EC2 User Data.
Pre-installed Components & Tools
The image comes "ready-to-work" with essential runtimes and AWS management tools:
- .NET Framework 3.5 & 4.8 (Pre-enabled) & Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
- AWS Management: Amazon SSM Agent, EC2Launch, and CloudFormation helper scripts.
- AWS.Tools for PowerShell: Integrated common modules including S3, EC2, IdentityManagement, Lambda, CloudWatch, SecretsManager, RDS, and CloudFormation.
- High-Performance Drivers: Integrated AWS ENA & NVMe drivers and Intel AVF drivers for optimized networking and storage I/O.
Usage & Configuration Notes
- Activation: Based on the Datacenter Edition. The system typically activates automatically via AWS KMS. If manual activation is needed, please run slmgr /ato.
- Network: Firewall is pre-configured to allow RDP, WinRM, File/Printer Sharing, and standard ports (80, 443, 123).
- Timezone: System time is set to UTC by default.
- Services: Certain non-essential services are set to "Manual" or "Disabled" to enhance performance. Please review your application dependencies if specific legacy features are required.
Highlights
- Modern UEFI+GPT & Instant Ready: Leverages a modernized partition scheme with pre-consolidated patches to ensure a rapid, high-performance deployment experience.
- Security & Performance Hardening: Engineered with TLS 1.2, streamlined services, and disabled virtual memory to maximize compute efficiency and security posture.
- Advanced Tooling & Localization: Pre-installed with .NET 3.5 and a full array of AWS PowerShell tools; native Simplified Chinese with a switchable English language pack.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Note: For all Avora Windows AMI products, the default login username is Administrator.
Remote Desktop Connection
What to expect
- First boot time: the instance may take 5-10 minutes to finish initialization before RDP is available.
- How to connect: use Windows Remote Desktop (mstsc) or another RDP client, open the .rdp file from the EC2 console, and sign in with the Administrator account and the decrypted password.
- Security: ensure the instance security group allows RDP (TCP 3389) or use a secure bastion/jump host. Use the EC2 console to decrypt the initial Administrator password.
Official guide: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/zh_cn/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/connect-rdp.html
Session Manager via AWS Systems Manager
When to use
- Use Session Manager when you prefer not to open RDP to the internet or when you need command-line/PowerShell access from the AWS console or CLI.
Requirements and notes
- The instance must have an IAM role with the required SSM permissions.
- Start a session from the Systems Manager Session Manager console or from the EC2 console's Connect option.
Official guide: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/zh_cn/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/connect-with-systems-manager-session-manager.html
Start the Instance in English Using User Data
Purpose and impact
- To change the OS language to English (en-US) at first boot, provide a PowerShell script as user data when launching the instance. This change triggers an additional system restart and increases initialization time.
PowerShell user data example
- <powershell>
- $Language = "en-US"
- Set-WinSystemLocale -SystemLocale $Language
- Set-WinUserLanguageList -LanguageList $Language -Force
- Set-WinUILanguageOverride -Language $Language
- Set-Culture -CultureInfo $Language
- Set-WinHomeLocation -GeoId 244
- Restart-Computer
- </powershell>
How to supply user data
- Paste the script into the User data field when launching the instance in the EC2 console. Because the script restarts the machine, expect a longer first-boot time.
