You pay by the hour for the running instance, with no upfront commitment. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, so your rate follows the compute size you pick. Options range from small general-purpose instances to memory-optimized, compute-optimized, storage, GPU, and high-memory bare-metal choices. Larger or specialized instances carry higher hourly rates than smaller ones. The software is a Simplified Chinese Windows Server 2022 Standard image. You select the instance type that fits your workload, and billing scales with the hours that instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running AWS EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The image is Windows Server 2022 Standard with Simplified Chinese as the default display language. You can switch the display language to English at first boot using a user data script.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply while the instance is stopped, but the software meters running hours only.
The instance type you choose drives the rate. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. Smaller general-purpose types carry lower hourly rates. Memory-optimized, compute-optimized, storage, GPU, and high-memory bare-metal types carry higher rates. You pay the rate tied to the single instance type you run.

Remote Desktop Connection
What to expect
- First boot time: the instance may take 5-10 minutes to finish initialization before RDP is available.
- How to connect: use Windows Remote Desktop (mstsc) or another RDP client, open the .rdp file from the EC2 console, and sign in with the Administrator account and the decrypted password.
- Security: ensure the instance security group allows RDP (TCP 3389) or use a secure bastion/jump host. Use the EC2 console to decrypt the initial Administrator password.

Session Manager via AWS Systems Manager
When to use
- Use Session Manager when you prefer not to open RDP to the internet or when you need command-line/PowerShell access from the AWS console or CLI.

Start the Instance in English Using User Data
Purpose and impact
- To change the OS language to English (en-US) at first boot, provide a PowerShell script as user data when launching the instance. This change triggers an additional system restart and increases initialization time.
