You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run. Gitea comes preinstalled on CentOS 9, and each dimension maps to a specific instance type. The nano options (t3.nano, t3a.nano) offer the least compute, scaling up through micro, small, medium, and large sizes. Larger instances provide more CPU and memory for higher workloads. The t3 and t3a families run in parallel at each size, giving you a choice of processor type. Billing is usage-based, so charges accrue only while an instance runs. This vendor also provides support for the deployment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do the t3 and t3a instance dimensions each provide for my hourly rate?
Each dimension maps to one running EC2 instance of that size. Sizes scale from nano through large, adding CPU and memory at each step. The t3 family uses one processor type and t3a uses another. You pick one instance type and pay the hourly rate for that size.
Am I charged when my Gitea instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue only while an instance runs. When you stop an instance, hourly software charges stop. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software meter counts running time only.
How does the hourly billing work across the different instance sizes?
You pay per instance-hour with no upfront commitment. Charges accrue by the hour for whichever instance type you run. Larger sizes carry a higher hourly rate for more CPU and memory. This suits variable workloads where you start and stop instances as needed.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
