The VAST Data Platform is a highly scalable file, object, and database platform optimized for the AI era that allows you to seamlessly access your data whenever you need it, wherever you need it: on-prem, edge, and cloud. VAST provides access to all your data across your entire organization, without the need for additional software or integration, making data management, well.. simple.
Key features of the VAST Data Platform:
- Exabyte-scale namespace that scales performance and capacity independently
- Immediately access any or all your on-prem data directly in AWS to support burst-to-cloud use cases, dramatically simplifying hybrid cloud environments
- Flexible path-based synchronization modes to support time-to-first byte and storage efficiency use cases
- Flexibly access all your data using S3, NFS, SMB
- Similarity-based data reduction that drastically lowers costs associated with cloud storage resources
- Granular QoS, Quotas, S3 Lifecycle Policies, and Multi-tenancy support
- Snapshot and Object Immutability
Leveraging the VAST DASE (Disaggregated Shared Everything) architecture, VAST simplifies the customer experience by consolidating storage tiers, eliminating the need for performance knobs, independent scaling of performance and capacity, and providing the same user experience across private and public clouds.
VAST Data was founded in 2016 and is trusted with tens of exabytes by the world's leading data-driven organizations.
Highlights
- Revolutionary Architecture: Described by IDC as "the storage architecture of the future"
- VAST's disaggregated, shared everything (DASE) architecture breaks the tradeoffs between scalability, resiliency, performance, and efficiency

CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."

Usage instructions
-
Make sure your PC has network access to all of the VAST Cluster compute servers (CNodes).
-
Browse to: https://<VMS_VIP>/, where <VMS_VIP> is the management VIP that you provided during installation. This is the IP used to connect to the VAST Cluster management server (VMS). The VAST Web UI opens.
-
If this is your first time connecting to the VAST Web UI, click I agree to accept the VAST Data End User License Agreement.
-
Enter your Username and Password to log in. For first time login, use the factory default VMS user account credentials: username: admin password: 123456. (i) VAST Cluster has one factory default VMS user account. You cannot delete the factory default VMS user account or reduce its permissions. After first time login, you can change the password for the default VMS user, create additional VMS users, and/or configure role based access with LDAP groups. For all options, see Authorizing VMS Access and Permissions. For subsequent login, enter a valid user name and password. This may be:
- A user name and password belonging to a user group on your organization's authentication provider (requires mapping the group to a VMS role), or
- The user name and password of a VMS user account.
- Click Login. You're now logged into the VAST Web UI and you're viewing the Dashboard.
