The type you pick sets your hourly rate. Options span many families for general-purpose, compute, memory, storage, and high-performance workloads. Sizes range from small (medium, large) up to metal and 48xlarge configurations. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates because they provide more compute and memory. You add standard AWS infrastructure charges separately. Choose the instance type that fits your workload and scale by switching sizes.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running instance of the hardened Ubuntu 20.04 (ARM) image on one AWS Graviton instance. The rate applies per instance-hour. Running two instances of the same type bills two hours per clock hour. Counting follows how many instances run and how long each runs.
The hourly software charge applies only while an instance runs. Stopped or terminated instances do not accrue the software rate. You may still owe standard AWS infrastructure charges, such as storage for attached volumes, which are billed by AWS separately from this image.
The image ships with a hardened baseline verified against declared operating-system requirements for the current release. That verification covers the packaged OS only. Your applications, cloud account configuration, and any changes made after deployment stay outside this image-level scope and remain your responsibility.
