Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to one instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, storage, and accelerator capacity you choose. Smaller shared-core instances cost less per hour, while larger, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, GPU, and bare-metal instances cost more. You pick the instance that fits your workload, and the software charge is added on top of the underlying AWS infrastructure rate. There is no upfront commitment; billing follows your actual runtime hours.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the listed type, charged per hour. The software fee attaches to that single instance while it runs. Running several instances multiplies the charge by the number of active instances, each billed at its own instance-type rate.
The software fee meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay underlying AWS storage costs for the attached volume while stopped, but the software licence bills only active runtime.
Yes. Each instance type maps to its own hourly rate. Moving from a shared-core type to a memory-optimized, GPU, or bare-metal type changes the software charge to that type's rate. The change applies from the hour the new instance runs, with no manual upgrade step.
