Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type, so your rate scales with the compute, memory, and hardware profile you pick. Options range from small burstable instances like t3.small and t3.medium to compute-optimized c5 and c6i sizes, memory-optimized r5, r6i, and r8i sizes, general-purpose m5 and m6i sizes, storage-optimized i3 sizes, and a GPU-backed g4dn.xlarge. Larger instances bill at higher hourly rates. There is no long-term commitment, and standard AWS infrastructure charges apply separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You pay two separate charges. One is the software fee for the preconfigured IIS on Windows Server 2022 image, billed per hour for the EC2 instance type you run. The other is standard AWS infrastructure cost for that instance, billed by AWS separately. Both scale with the instance size you choose.
The software fee meters running time by the hour, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing that hourly charge. Standard AWS storage costs for the attached volume may still apply while the instance is stopped. You can cancel at any time since there is no long-term commitment.
You commit nothing upfront. Billing is usage-based and hourly, and you can cancel anytime. To switch instance types, you launch a different size from the listing; your hourly rate then matches that new instance type. There is no contract locking you to one size.
