Overview
The CIS Hardened Image Level 1 on Microsoft Windows Server 2022 is a pre-configured image built by the Center for Internet Security (CIS®) for use on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). It is a pre-configured, security-hardened image that aligns with the robust security recommendations, the CIS Benchmarks, making it easier for organizations to meet regulatory requirements.
Not only is this image pre-hardened to the CIS Benchmarks guidance, but it is also patched monthly in alignment with the updates from the software vendor.
Key Benefits
This image is hardened against the corresponding Level 1 profile which is intended to be practical and prudent, provide a clear security benefit, and not inhibit the utility of the technology beyond acceptable means. No components are installed on or removed from this image outside of those already present on the base image or as recommended in alignment with the corresponding CIS Benchmark recommendations.
To demonstrate conformance to the CIS Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Level 1 Benchmark, industry-recognized hardening guidance, each image includes an HTML report from CIS Configuration Assessment Tool (CIS-CAT® Pro). Each CIS Hardened Image contains the following files:

Each listed dimension maps to a specific instance size, from small general-purpose types to memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-optimized families, plus bare-metal options. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or accelerators carry proportionally higher hourly rates. You choose the instance that fits your workload, and the software charge is added to standard AWS infrastructure costs for that instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly charge covers one running instance of the hardened Windows Server 2022 image. Most listed dimensions map to virtual machine sizes, so one running VM equals one billable unit. Bare-metal dimensions like the .metal types cover a full physical server. Each running instance meters separately, even when several share underlying capacity.
The hourly software fee meters running time only. Stopped instances do not accrue the software charge. You may still pay standard AWS storage fees for the attached volume while the instance is stopped. To halt software charges fully, stop or terminate the instance.
Your bill combines the hourly software fee with standard AWS infrastructure costs for that instance. Both charges apply together on the same invoice. Larger instance types carry higher software rates. Switching instance types is manual — you launch a different size, and the new rate applies to that running instance.

Once the instance is running, choose Get Windows Password in the EC2 console then connect using a Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) client. The RDP client MUST be able to authenticate using NTLMv2. What do you like best about the product?
Best practices developed that is the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks is great at assisting security practitioners in implementing and managing their cybersecurity defenses. Also we may install the most recent software packages and tools safely in a server environment to use in our environment and enable secure file sharing thanks to this service that allowed for the deployment of an operating system. If you have the skills for distributing software in a server environment, your options are virtually endless.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of a properly organised SDN in Microsoft Windows Server 2019's architecture is the only disadvantage I can think of. The lack of a useful centrally managed framework makes it difficult for us to shift from one network control plane to another.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Windows Server 2019 is used to install Amazon Fargate instances, which is a crucial component. We are able to establish all VPN connections without any licencing restrictions because the maximum RRAS connection is infinite. It is compatible with our .NET framework 4.7.1, eliminating our compiler dependency problems even if we forget to install some components or if the incorrect device drivers cause it to become damaged.

What was awesome about it was it helped me make proper auditing decisions, even it were for hypothetically.

It helps me do a pretend audit for the purposes of planning a wedding and it helps me do a pretend audit for the purposes of knowing what I still need to look at
