Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the size and family you launch. Smaller instances like nano and micro sizes carry lower hourly rates, while larger sizes such as metal and multi-xlarge carry higher rates. Charges stop when you stop the instance. What does one hourly unit cover for billing?
Each dimension maps to one running AWS EC2 instance of a specific type, such as t3.medium or m5.large. You pay the listed rate for each hour that one instance runs. Launching two instances of the same type bills two hourly charges. The rate reflects the instance size and family you choose.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge applies only while an instance runs. When you stop the instance, the software metering stops. Note that underlying AWS storage and other AWS resources may still bill separately, but the Oracle Linux 9 support charge meters running instance-hours only.
Does using a larger instance type change how I am billed?
Billing stays hourly, but the rate is tied to the instance type you launch. Moving from a smaller size to a larger one, or to a different family, applies that type's hourly rate. There is no upfront commitment or fixed tier; cost scales with the instances you run.
