You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run the OpenClaw AI Gateway on. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, so pricing scales with the compute you choose. The T-family (t2, t3, t3a) covers burstable general-purpose sizes from nano up to 2xlarge. The M-family (m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5d, m5n, m5dn, m5ad) covers steady general-purpose sizes up to 24xlarge and bare metal. Larger instances add more CPU, memory, and in some cases local storage or network capacity, and cost more per hour.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit include for these instance types?
Each unit is one running EC2 virtual machine of the size you pick. It bundles the OpenClaw AI Gateway software preinstalled on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. You pay per hour the instance runs. Larger instance types map to more CPU, memory, and in some cases local storage or network capacity.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue software fees. Underlying AWS storage costs for the volume may still apply while stopped. To halt software charges fully, stop or terminate the instance through your AWS account.
Can I move to a different instance size after I start?
Yes. Each dimension bills independently per hour based on the size running. You can stop one instance and launch another size, then pay that size's hourly rate. There is no upfront commitment, so switching between T-family and M-family sizes only changes your per-hour charge.
