You pay only for what you use, with no upfront commitment. Pricing splits into standard-definition and 4K metrics. Standard usage bills separately for hours streamed, hours viewed, and hours streamed to additional targets. The same three metrics repeat at 4K rates for higher-resolution content. Passthrough hours cover streams delivered without transcoding. Peak storage bills by the gigabyte for stored content. Each metric accrues independently, so your total reflects the mix of streaming, viewing, delivery, storage, and resolution your workload uses.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one streaming hour versus one viewer hour on my bill?
A streaming hour meters the time your source content is processed and delivered. A viewer hour meters each viewer's connection time. If one stream runs for an hour with three concurrent viewers, that is one streaming hour and three viewer hours. Both accrue separately.
How do the standard-definition rates differ from the 4K rates on my invoice?
The same three activities—hours streamed, hours viewed, and hours streamed to additional targets—are metered separately for 4K content at their own rates. Standard content bills under the standard metrics. Your resolution choice determines which metric each hour lands in. Both sets can appear on one invoice.
Do charges accrue when a live stream is started but not actively sending content?
Yes. Transcoding charges accrue for started live streams even when no content is streaming. Wowza Video stops idle live streams automatically after 20 minutes, but you should stop your stream when your event ends to avoid unnecessary charges.
