Overview
Overview PQC Gateway is an open source, quantum-safe edge gateway that helps organizations start the transition to post-quantum cryptography today. Built on the open source Pipy proxy engine and OpenSSL 3.5, PQC Gateway provides TLS termination, API Gateway, and reverse proxy functions with native support for PQC and hybrid classical + PQC cryptography.
Key Features
- Quantum-safe TLS Termination - Offload and terminate TLS 1.3 connections using PQC algorithms and hybrid key exchanges, ensuring forward secrecy against future quantum threats.
- API Gateway and Reverse Proxy Integration - Unified gateway for routing, access control, and application ingress/egress. Gateway API Compatible: aligns with Kubernetes Gateway API standards for seamless integration with modern cloud-native architectures.
- Flexible Deployment - Deploy as a standalone gateway or in clustered mode for scalable, high-availability environments on AWS ECS, EKS, EC2.
- Crypto Agility - Centralize cryptographic policy enforcement and algorithm upgrades at the edge, avoiding costly client-side updates.
- Open Source Transparency - Fully auditable under the Apache 2.0 license with open build pipelines and configuration.
- Configurable via YAML - Simple declarative configuration with live reload and watch-mode support.
Use Cases
- Quantum-Safe API Ingress - Protect REST, GraphQL, or gRPC APIs with PQC-enabled TLS termination.
- Secure Web and Application Gateways - Add PQC protection to websites, microservices, or backend integrations.
- Hybrid Cloud Edge Security - Deploy in AWS VPCs or hybrid architectures to protect traffic across multiple environments.
- PQC Readiness and Compliance Testing - Evaluate PQC algorithms, hybrid TLS modes, and transition strategies in a live gateway environment.
Benefits
- Future-proof Security - Defend against quantum-era decryption risks with hybrid classical + PQC TLS.
- Frictionless Migration - Enable PQC without rewriting applications or replacing existing certificates immediately.
- Centralized Control - Manage crypto policies, routing, and certificates in one unified gateway layer.
- AWS Native Integration - Works seamlessly with AWS networking (VPC, ECS, EKS, EC2) and supports scaling, monitoring, and IAM policies.
- Cost-effective and Transparent - Open source with optional commercial support; no vendor lock-in.
Ideal For
- Enterprises and regulated industries (finance, healthcare, etc.) preparing for quantum-era compliance.
- Cloud architects and DevSecOps teams building crypto-agile, zero-trust edge environments.
- Researchers and developers testing PQC algorithms and hybrid deployments in production-grade gateways.
Highlights
- Deploy NIST standardized post quantum cryptography MLKEM768 and MLDSA44 instantly to protect against harvest now decrypt later attacks. Adversaries are collecting encrypted data today for future quantum decryption. PQC Gateway provides immediate defense without waiting for quantum computers to arrive. Zero application changes required with transparent proxy architecture that maintains existing workflows while adding quantum safe TLS termination.
- Built on proven Pipy framework with industry standard Gateway API configuration.
- Pre configured AMI deploys quantum safe security in minutes with seamless AWS integration.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
