You pay based on usage, measured per vCPU. The price applies to the number of vCPUs in your database configuration. There is no upfront commitment or fixed term; billing scales with the compute you run. The only difference across the many dimensions is the AWS Region where you deploy, from US East and West to Europe, Asia Pacific, South America, the Middle East, Africa, and more. Each Region carries its own per-vCPU rate. You select the Region that fits your data residency and latency needs, and your cost follows the vCPU count there.

What counts as one vCPU for billing purposes?
A vCPU is a virtual compute core assigned to your database nodes. You are billed per vCPU in your deployment configuration. As you add nodes for writes, reads, or distributed workloads, the vCPU count rises and your charges scale with it. The count reflects the compute you provision, not data volume.
Does my bill change if I add nodes for high availability or read replicas?
Yes. High availability, read replicas, and multi-node clustering each add compute. Because billing is per vCPU, every added node raises your vCPU count and increases your charges. Scaling out for fault tolerance or query traffic changes the total vCPUs you run, and cost follows that count in your chosen Region.
Is storage billed separately from the per-vCPU charge?
The Marketplace dimensions meter only vCPU compute. The database uses a diskless architecture backed by object storage, so any storage capacity you use sits outside this per-vCPU rate. Object storage costs are handled through your own storage arrangement, not through these compute dimensions. Only vCPU count drives the charges shown here.
