You pay by the hour for Oracle Linux Server 8.6 with vendor support, billed per running instance. Pricing attaches to the AWS EC2 instance type you choose. Each dimension maps to one specific instance size, so your hourly rate scales with the compute you select. Smaller general-purpose sizes cost less per hour, while memory-optimized, compute-optimized, storage, GPU, and bare-metal families carry higher hourly rates. You can run multiple instance types at once, and each accrues its own hourly charge. There is no upfront commitment; you pay only for the hours each instance runs.

What does one hourly unit cover for a given instance type?
Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the chosen type, with Oracle Linux Server 8.6 and vendor support included. You pick a size like m8i.large or r8i.96xlarge, and the meter counts each hour that specific instance runs. Larger families and sizes carry higher hourly rates.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Underlying AWS storage for the stopped instance may still apply, but that is separate from this listing. Charges resume when you restart the instance.
If I run several instance types at once, how do the charges combine?
Each running instance bills independently at its own hourly rate for its size. The charges add together on one invoice. No single instance discounts another, and the total scales with how many instances run and which families you select.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Info regarding virtual machines
The operating system does not save any sensitive information for the customers. The customer is responsible for saving any information, sensitive or not.
The data saved on the volumes is not encrypted by default.
All instance authentication must use key pair access, not password-based authentication.
AMIs does not contain passwords, authentication keys, key pairs, security keys, or other credentials.
PasswordAuthentication is set to NO in sshd_config.
The application does not make use of any encryption techniques.
Troubleshooting
Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region.
Choose Instance and select your launched instance.
Select the server to display your metadata page and choose the Status checks tab at the bottom of the page to review if your status checks passed or failed.
