This AMI is provided and maintained by Imaxe.Cloud and delivers a ready-to-use, security-hardened Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) base image for production workloads that must stay on 22.04 after its standard maintenance window.
Hardening applied on top of the stock image includes: restrictive kernel and network sysctl settings, blacklisting of unused filesystem and network kernel modules, nosuid/nodev/noexec mount options for /tmp, /var/tmp and /dev/shm, hidepid on /proc, a default-deny ufw firewall with SSH allowed, AppArmor profiles in enforce mode, PAM password quality and account lockout policies, SSH server hardening, auditd rules, AIDE file integrity monitoring and unattended security upgrades.
Each release is verified with a Lynis security audit and an automated test suite before publication, and the audit report is published for every version. Ubuntu is an open-source operating system distributed by Canonical Ltd. Imaxe.Cloud is an independent software vendor and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Canonical Ltd.

Imaxe Hardened Ubuntu 22.04 LTS - Extended Lifecycle Support
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for each running instance, metered through AWS Marketplace. Pricing scales by the EC2 instance type you choose, so your rate depends on the size and family you launch. The many options cover Arm-based (Graviton) instance families spanning general purpose, compute, memory, storage, and accelerated workloads, from small sizes up to bare-metal configurations. Larger sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates because they provide more compute, memory, or storage. Stop the instance and billing stops. The same hardened software runs across every instance type; only the underlying hardware size changes.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly software charge beyond the base operating system?
You get a hardened Ubuntu 22.04 LTS image set to a CIS Level 1 profile, with minimal packages and services under systemd. The charge covers extended lifecycle support: weekly security patches to the base image, a daily CVE audit, and ticket support. The same software runs on every instance type you pick.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or powered off?
No. The software is metered per hour of use through AWS Marketplace. When you stop the instance, the hourly software charge stops. Note that stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate from this listing's per-hour software charge.
Why do the instance families differ, and does my workload type change the software charge?
Each option maps to a specific Arm-based (Graviton) EC2 instance type, grouped into families for general purpose, compute, memory, storage, and accelerated work. Your rate follows the instance type you launch, not your workload. Picking a size within a family sets the hourly software charge for that running instance.
