BuildPiper - The Central Application Modernisation & DevSecOps Platform
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 compute instance you run BuildPiper on. Pricing scales with the size and type of instance you select. The c5.large option gives you the smallest listed capacity. The c5.2xlarge and the c5a family (c5a.xlarge, c5a.2xlarge, c5a.4xlarge) offer larger compute sizes, with the c5a.4xlarge providing the most capacity among these choices. All options bill per hour, so your cost tracks the hours each instance runs. You choose the instance that fits your workload and scale up or down as needs change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Does the hourly software charge apply when my EC2 instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage costs for attached volumes, but the BuildPiper software charge tracks the hours each instance actually runs.
What does choosing a larger instance type like c5a.4xlarge actually give me?
Each listed option maps to one EC2 instance type with set vCPU and memory. The c5a family (xlarge, 2xlarge, 4xlarge) and c5.2xlarge provide more compute per hour than c5.large. You run the full BuildPiper platform on whichever instance size matches your workload.
If my workload grows, do I pay more automatically or must I switch instances?
The hourly rate is fixed per instance type you select. Your bill grows only with the hours each instance runs, not automatically. To add capacity, you choose a larger instance type or run more instances. Scaling up or down is a manual choice you control.
