Greece Points of Interest: 397K Places with Brands and Listed Tickers

Geolytica's poidata.xyz Greece file covers 397,026 places across the mainland, Crete and the islands. 311,733 of them are businesses: shops, food and drink, accommodation, services, trades and offices. The rest are classified separately (churches and public places, parks, beaches and landmarks, transport stops and ports, car parks and EV chargers, housing), so you can filter to commercial sites in one step.

Chain locations carry a cleaned, normalised brand, written in Latin script even when the source listing is in Greek (ΑΒ Βασιλόπουλος → AB Vassilopoulos, ΟΠΑΠ → OPAP). About 100 chains cover 12,400 places. Where the brand's parent is listed, the record carries the parent company, ticker, exchange and Bloomberg code: 7,289 places across 36 tickers. They include the Athens-listed fuel networks (ELPE GA, MOH GA, REVOIL GA, ELIN GA), the four systemic banks (TPEIR GA, ETE GA, EUROB GA, ALPHA GA), OPAP GA, OTE GA and BELA GA, plus AD NA, VOD LN, CURY LN, WU US and MCD US. A ticker_relation field states whether the listed company owns the site, runs it as a franchisee, or licenses the brand to a dealer, so dealer-run fuel stations and franchised outlets are never mistaken for owned estate.

Identity and location: name (Greek or Latin script, as published), brand, categories (3,092 distinct), place type, WGS84 coordinates, street address, town, region, postcode, formatted address, phone.

Evidence and freshness: crawl time, first and last observed dates, number of independent source domains, ranked source URLs, the site's page on the brand's own store finder, delivery-app presence, and closure flags with their supporting URL.

Listed exposure: parent company, ticker, exchange, Bloomberg ticker, ticker relation and ownership notes.

Places are compiled by Geolytica from publicly accessible web sources: retailers' own store finders, business directories, and listing, review, travel and delivery sites. Each record keeps its source links. Brands come from our brand matcher and are cleaned. They are extended by recognising chains from their own websites in the source evidence and from name and category matches, with Greek and Latin spellings treated as the same name. Tickers come from a curated brand-to-parent table, reviewed for ownership changes at each release. Place types are derived from categories.

• This release is a current view, not point-in-time history. First and last observed dates are provided; monthly point-in-time vintages with persistent IDs are in development.
• Opening hours are present for 28% of businesses and are often partial.
• Links to a brand's own store page are available mainly for chains whose websites publish one page per store, such as BP, Coffee Island, Lidl, Western Union, Kotsovolos and JYSK. For most other chains, the evidence is directory and listing sites.
• Closure flags are leads to verify, not confirmed closures. This release has 83, only 6 of them businesses.
• The region field uses seven region groups rather than the 13 administrative regions.
• Ticker mappings reflect ownership as of September 2026. Notes flag items to watch, such as the OPAP–Allwyn combination.
