NETSCOUT Virtual nGeniusONE
The NETSCOUT Virtual nGeniusONE for AWS is a Service Assurance platform that provides real-time visibility into the performance of business-critical applications such as web-based applications, voice and video communications, database, financial, or other services by analyzing wire data as it crosses the network, on premises or in the cloud. nGeniusONE with NETSCOUT's patented Adaptive Service Intelligence (ASI) technology leverages this wire data to generate "smart data" for smarter analytics to assure performance, manage risk, and facilitate superior decision-making regarding application and network services. The nGeniusONE platform delivers valuable macro-level insights into the status and performance of enterprise-wide services, application components, individual hosts or groups of clients or servers. This expands the IT architect's understanding of service consumption patterns, application component dependencies, and overall user experience to better support resource optimization and capacity planning. Powered by ASI technology, NETSCOUT's highly scalable Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) engine relies on wire data to provide real-time, contextual analysis of network and service performance, availability and quality. With these insights, nGeniusONE can provide customers end-to-end visibility in complex physical, virtualized, and cloud-based deployments, allowing enterprises to regain visibility into business-critical applications and services even in difficult to instrument locations.

CloudFormation Template (CFT)

Strong Application Security Alerts, but Occasional Misses

What do you like best about the product?
I like that application security is a main focus and core feature. NETSCOUT alerts us about ongoing vulnerabilities in the PHP, Python, and other components we use, and tells us what we should remediate. It also observes when data might be sent out of the organization by mistake, including to our internal AI systems. The NETSCOUT team was very helpful with the initial setup, and right now it gives us all the things we need.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes don’t get notified when a vulnerability or data extraction is happening.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability to enhance security for our in-house product. It alerts us to vulnerabilities in the technologies we use so we can remediate them, and it observes data that might be sent outside our organization by mistake.

What do you like best about the product?
Its deep packet inspection, integration with other systems, and intelligence (including the use of AI) make it superior to parallel network monitoring tools. It’s also easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is quite costly, and the premium-only support makes it difficult for companies to try it. Also, its global reach and marketing presence are limited, and it is not well known in some countries in Africa.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I researched different monitoring tools like PRTG, Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana, and NETSCOUT deep packet inspection is good and performs better than the others. However, because of its cost and the fact that it has no trial version, it remains relatively unknown across companies.

What do you like best about the product?
The availability of information when I need it has helped me troubleshoot network-level issues down to the packet level. I also like the dashboard views, which let me review the data in a user-friendly way when I don’t need to dig into the details at the packet level.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you don’t use the tool on a daily basis, or even very often, it can be tough to navigate and quickly find the view or information you’re looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The dashboards that show key troubleshooting metrics are readily available when I’m working through issues. Being able to choose the view I need, depending on how deeply I want to troubleshoot, is very helpful.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the ease of use and the packet analysis technology of NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability. It's easier for us to review the network packets than any other tool, which is awesome for performing security investigations on anomalous traffic. The platform helps us solve network visibility problems by providing packet data for us to analyze and determine network events. We can quickly identify and stop attacks like DOS or DDoS by reviewing specific packets to see what's happening.
What do you dislike about the product?
The packet data filtering in NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability could use improvement. I think the tool is really great, but I would benefit more if there were additional filters based on ports and the packet details.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use NETSCOUT Network & Application Observability for network visibility and security investigations. It provides packet data to analyze traffic and identify network anomalies, making it easier to review packets and stop attacks such as DDoS in time.

What do you like best about the product?
Netscout has helped our organization demonstrate mean time to innocence at the network layer, while also giving us a clear way to investigate issues with the appropriate team.
What do you dislike about the product?
It’s not so much about what I don’t like; it’s more about what I’d like to see improved. I’d like a friendlier user interface for lower-level NOC teams. The NOC is often the first layer of defense when an issue arises, so making the tool easier for that team to use would be key.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Netscout allows the network team to investigate any application issue that comes up, since the network team is often the first to be blamed. This tool helps the team verify the health of the infrastructure layer while also looking into backend application usage.
