You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run this product on. All options bill under the same 4-channel usage model; the only pricing difference is the compute size you select. Instances span several families (c5, c5a, c5ad, c5d, c6a, c6i, c6id, c7a, c7i) and a range of sizes from 2xlarge up to 48xlarge. Larger sizes carry more CPU and memory and cost more per hour. Pick the family and size that match your workload. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the 4-channel model let me receive and process?
The platform receives up to 16 concurrent live streams from mobile transmitters, encoders, apps, and IP sources. It decodes and distributes them across the four channels. Supported protocols include SRT, RTMP, RTSP/RTP, TS/IP, HLS, and NDI. On-premise setups can also decode to SDI and ST 2110 outputs.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
You pay only for the hours each instance actually runs. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. Note that underlying AWS storage for a stopped instance may still incur separate AWS fees. The software meter counts running time only.
Does the instance size I pick affect how many channels I get?
No. All instance choices bill under the same 4-channel model. The size you select changes only the CPU and memory available and the hourly rate. Larger sizes give more compute headroom for transcoding and concurrent streams, but the channel count stays the same across every option.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
