AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run. The 26 options map to AWS instance types across the t2, t3, m3, m4, and m5 families. Smaller instances like t3.medium suit lighter workloads, while larger ones like m5.24xlarge handle heavier processing. Pricing scales with the compute capacity you select, so hourly cost rises as you move to larger instances. Each option bundles the same deployment, security scanning, and 24/7 support. You are billed only for the hours you run, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover beyond the EC2 instance itself?
Each hourly rate bundles the CKAN software plus Hossted's deployment, continuous security scanning, and 24/7 support with a 30-minute response target. You pay this software charge on top of the underlying AWS infrastructure costs for running the instance.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
The software charge meters running instance-hours, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly software fees. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage charges for attached volumes. You are billed only for the hours the instance actually runs.
How do I move to a larger instance if my data workload grows?
You select a different instance type, such as moving from t3.medium to m5.4xlarge, when you launch or resize. The hourly software rate then follows the new instance size. There is no upfront commitment, so you can change instance families as needs shift.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
