Overview
Portcast is a predictive supply chain visibility platform that helps manufacturers and logistics providers reduce delays, control costs, and manage disruptions before they escalate.
Key features include real-time tracking for containers, vessels, and air cargo, visibility into port and terminal events, carrier updates, shipping performance insights, emissions reporting, and automated freight audits powered by AI.
Using a global data network and proprietary machine learning, Portcast delivers accurate ETA and ETD predictions, identifies the root causes of delays, and sends proactive alerts through dashboard or API. This enables teams to act early, handle exceptions effectively, and move toward a more touchless supply chain.

Highlights
- Real time tracking for accurate visibility: Track containers, vessels, and air shipments using live data from AIS, terminals, carriers, ports, satellites, and weather systems. Portcast supports coverage across the vast majority of global carriers, providing a reliable consolidated view for better supply chain visibility.
- Predictive ETA/ETD and early exception alerts: Leverage proprietary machine learning and a global data network to generate more precise ETA/ETD forecasts days before carriers update schedules. Alert teams automatically when risks (like port congestion, weather disruptions, or vessel rollovers) pop up, enabling proactive exception handling via the dashboard or APIs.
- Automated freight audit to control costs: Automatically match invoices, events, and contract data to uncover billing errors and discrepancies. The platform creates dispute ready documentation that streamlines auditing and helps recover overcharges, including detention and demurrage fees, with minimal manual effort.

Centralized Shipment Visibility and Transparent KPI Analysis with Portcast
As a result, coordination efforts are significantly reduced, as follow-ups from Order Management, customers, procurement, logistics, and other stakeholders can be minimized.
Another key benefit is the increased transparency across the entire supply chain. Delays can be clearly identified and better understood, especially when they are caused by carrier decisions. At the same time, it becomes visible how actual transit times deviate from originally confirmed schedules provided by carriers or forwarders.
Furthermore, the centralized data foundation enables transparent and data-driven analysis within KPI dashboards. This supports us in evaluating transit times systematically and continuously improving performance based on real data.
Portcast also provides significant value in discussions with service providers. The available data creates an objective basis for feedback on the carriers they utilize and allows well-informed decisions, including the potential exclusion of underperforming carriers based on reliable performance data.
With the current solution, we now have the ability to view all shipments at a glance. This not only saves time but also significantly improves transparency and responsiveness in our daily operations.
Another major limitation in the past was that we were unable to perform analyses on a carrier level. Neither performance nor actual transit times could be properly evaluated by carrier. This was particularly challenging for LCL shipments, as they are often handled by co-loaders, making the actual carriers only partially visible.
We now have a much higher level of transparency in this area as well. It is now possible to clearly identify which carriers are being used on specific trade lanes and how they are performing. For the first time, this enables us to make data-driven decisions and to optimize our transport strategies in a targeted manner.
