64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Version release notes

Exostellar Release Changelog: 2.3.1 We are excited to annouce the latest updates and improvements in this Release! Here's what's new: 1 - Improved compatibility for Nested Virtualization with SLES 12 -- Issue: Some guest kernels on AWS AMIs usingxz-compressed initial ramdisks (initrd) were failingto boot due to unsupported encryption. -- Resolution: Enhanced kernel support by repacking the initrd as a cpio archive. This update ensures SLES 12 SP5 AMIs can boot nested VMs without issues.
-- Impact: Users leveraging SLES 12-based AMIs can now boot nested environments seamlessly.

2 - Optimized Fulfillment Timeout for Spot Instances -- Issue: Aggressive fulfillment timeouts were causing unnecessary pauses in spot instance usage, forcing a fallback to on-demand instances more often than needed. -- Resolution: Adjusted timeout parameters to strike a better balance, reducing interruptions and ensuring smoother operations. -- Impact: Improved reliability and cost efficiency for customers using spot instances, particularly for high-frequency workloads.

3 - Enhanced EKS & CSI Resilience Through Stress Testing -- Issue: Random failures were observed during prolonged EBS volume operations in EKS environments using the Container Storage Interface (CSI). -- Resolution: Implemented rigorous long-running stress tests to identify and address edge cases. Tests include multi-threaded pod creation, PVC reuse, read/write operations, and cluster churn simulations. -- Impact: Increased confidence and stability for EBS-backed workloads in Kubernetes, enabling production-readiness.

4 - Updated Spot Advisor Service for 2.0 -- What's New: The Spot Advisor server has been upgraded to support version 2.0. The new service is now accessible over HTTPS at https://advisor.exostellar.io/v2  -- Impact: Customers using the Spot Advisor will benefit from enhanced performance, security, and compatibility with the latest features. We're committed to delivering top-notch improvements for your cloud operations. For detailed technical guidance or support, please contact our team.
