64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
Summary This release adds support for EBS-backed ephemeral volumes, enforces volume size checks, improves guest agent logging and memory management, optimizes worker creation, and fixes metadata inconsistencies, ballooning issues, and kernel deadlocks.
New Features Cloud Layer (AWS) EBS-backed ephemeral volume support
Improvements Cloud Layer (AWS) Enforce volume size checks and add minimum IOPS
Guest Agent Improve logging for policy and target updates.
Disable disk collector to optimize performance.
Ensure sysmem.targetPages is always sourced from /proc.
Refactor and consolidate functions, removing unused code.
Guest Kernel Reduce contention in si_meminfo() to improve large instance memory allocation speed by up to 15%.
Bug fixes
Worker Worker creation delay due to stale /etc/resolv.conf causing DNS timeouts.
Metadata inconsistency may cause incorrect volume attachment after rapid pod deletion and recreation with the same PVC.
Guest Agent Fix guest agent packet size issue causing metric send failures.
Prevent metric inconsistencies after failed /proc writes.
Avoid permanently disabling ballooning.
Fix timer usage and remove unnecessary xenstore updates.
Guest Kernel Prevent deadlock by avoiding memory reclamation from swap during Xen balloon struct cache updates.
Explicitly return 0 from blkfront_suspend() for clarity.
