Highlights
All openEuler OS AMI's include cloud-init support. The default cloud user is set up to be 'openeuler'. After the machine is running, you will be able to log in as this user and run privileged commands with sudo.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
The software itself is free; you pay only the hourly rate tied to the AWS instance type you run it on. Each dimension maps to one arm64 (AArch64) EC2 instance, all billed per hour. Options span general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, high-performance-computing, and graphics families, in sizes from nano and medium up to metal. Your cost scales with the size and class of instance you select — larger or specialized instances cost more per hour. Pick the family and size that match your workload's compute, memory, or storage needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What am I actually paying for, since the software is listed as free?
The operating system itself carries no software charge. You pay only the AWS hourly rate for the arm64 (AArch64) EC2 instance you launch it on. Each dimension maps to one instance type, billed per running hour. Your bill reflects the instance size and family you choose, not a license fee.
Am I charged the hourly rate when my instance is stopped or powered off?
The per-hour charge applies to running time. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly instance charge. You may still pay underlying AWS fees for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Metering resumes when you start the instance again.
Does the hourly price change if I move to a larger instance in the same family?
Yes. Each instance size is its own dimension with its own hourly rate. Moving from a large to an xlarge or metal size in the same family raises your per-hour cost. You are billed at the rate of whichever instance type is currently running.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
