Unified cloud monitoring has improved cost control but still needs better pricing and AI features
What is our primary use case?
CloudAware serves as a centralized platform where we can monitor AWS , GCP , and Azure , allowing us to monitor all cloud environments in one place. It functions as a hub where developers can track security vulnerabilities by monitoring permissions and resource provisioning. CloudAware is used for tracking environment billings and compliance.
When we plan for newer infrastructure, we need to consider the billing and compliance requirements. CloudAware helps check the budget and tracks resource usage, which are integral for DevOps and MLOps lifecycles.
What is most valuable?
The valuable aspect of CloudAware is its FinOps functionality. It helps maintain the budget on the cloud side, which is crucial since cloud budgets can be substantial. CloudAware supports cost management at a granular level, reducing the need for finance personnel and enabling teams to focus more on operations. It also offers reporting and dashboard capabilities that are easy to use and customizable.
The best features CloudAware offers include billing and amount estimation. The user interface is very easy to track and understandable, making it useful for both technical users and management. Additionally, CloudAware's accuracy and reliability in output are impressive, providing consistent and accurate data.
What needs improvement?
CloudAware can be improved by offering more free options or reducing pricing, as startups may find the cost high. For 50 servers, they charge $200, which is quite high. CloudAware would benefit from some AI capabilities, which are currently lacking.
While the customer support is excellent, the general market has many tools, and CloudAware's high pricing relative to its features could be a sticking point for some organizations.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working in my current field for more than five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We did not experience any downtime or stability issues recently.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
CloudAware supports tracking everything at a granular level, which helps manage budgets more effectively, especially when dealing with large teams. The scalability as a centralized hub provides access to pre-built compliance standards, simplifying resource monitoring across multiple cloud providers.
How are customer service and support?
My experience with CloudAware's customer support is very good. They are very supportive, and their response is quicker than expected. They prioritize email chains and everything quite well.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
CloudAware is the first cloud management solution we are using. Previously, we used cloud-native tools, but they were limited to the cloud environment and could not contribute with Azure data. We are using CloudAware to centralize all our cloud environments.
How was the initial setup?
Integrating CloudAware with our existing systems is quite easy. We can integrate it very easily with just an API call and some trust configurations. It is straightforward with no complications.
What about the implementation team?
CloudAware is deployed in our organization as a SaaS, Software as a Service, over the public cloud. It is integrated with the UI. We are not self-hosting it and just want to integrate with our cloud environment using the API.
What was our ROI?
CloudAware has positively impacted our organization by allowing easier management of resources and budgets, enabling better compliance management which potentially reduces costs related to financial operations.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We purchased CloudAware via direct sales, not through the AWS Marketplace .
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
There are plenty of tools in the market, and there are also many cloud-native tools. Even GCP provides a good UI and navigation that CloudAware offers, allowing for easy grouping and monitoring.
What other advice do I have?
I advise others looking into using CloudAware that if you are using multiple clouds and face challenges in tracking costing, vulnerabilities, and permissions, CloudAware is the best solution to monitor everything in a single unified place with customized dashboards. I would rate this product a 6 out of 10.
