Install your software stack with just a few clicks, licensed and ready to go! By using this bundle you are renting all your necessary licenses on an hourly basis. You get your support from MidVision, an IBM Business Partner and supplier of this bundle with Amazon EC2. MidVision RapidDeploy is installed to allow you to get started quickly and easily, but also perform your ongoing product installations administrative tasks. A RapidDeploy quick start console menu lets you create and manage objects directly from the command line, even with no prior experience. The MidVision RapidDeploy web UI lets you easily upgrade products as well as quickly and easily deploy, rollback or redeploy application and configuration changes to your stack environment, OS or other software or configuration you install on the AMI.

You pay by the hour for a ready-to-run image of IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment with RapidDeploy pre-installed. Pricing has one dimension: the hourly software fee, which you select alongside an EC2 instance type. The rate scales with the instance you choose, based on its vCPU count and size. Larger instances carry a higher hourly fee. You pay only while an instance runs; stopped instances incur no software charge. Each running instance is billed separately at its matching rate, so total cost depends on how many instances you run and their sizes.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The rate covers the right to run the instance, standard support, and the license for the IBM WebSphere and RapidDeploy software on it. Your rate is set by the EC2 instance type you launch. Pricing is charged on the vCPU count, so larger instances carry higher hourly fees.
You pay only for launched, running instances. When an instance is in the stopped state, you incur no software charge. This makes standby and disaster recovery setups cost little unless activated. Note that underlying AWS storage may still apply, but the software license meters running time only.
There is no limit on how many instances you can run. Each running instance is billed separately at the hourly rate matching its instance type. Your total cost is the sum of each instance's rate for each hour, or part hour, it runs. Running more or larger instances raises the total.

Usage instructions
Launch an instance of the image, minimum medium instance type is recommended. If the instance has started up and passed both status checks, wait about 10 minutes and lsee your default WebSphere profiles http://[public-dns]:9060/ibm/console. In order to create bespoke configuration log in by SSH with the default user "midvision", with the given keyfile. Use the scripts in the user's home directory to start WAS or RapidDeploy.
