Deploy an OutSystems 11 factory comprised of 4 environments (LifeTime, Development, Test and Production) in AWS.

    CloudFormation Template (CFT)

AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."

    Additional details

    Usage instructions

This offer enables you to deploy an OutSystems 11 Factory with four environments.

Provide a /24 CIDR to deploy the resources.

Provide your desired DB master admin password and an EC2 key pair to access the Windows Application Servers.

Provide the password of the 5 SQL users that will manage your OutSystems databases.

Provide your desired OutSystems Platform admin password and the OutSystems cache host admin password.

All these credentials will be stored for you in Secrets Manager.

The EC2 instances part of this product require an outbound internet connection to deploy properly. PowerShell Package Provider NuGet and PowerShell Module OutSystems.SetupTools are downloaded and installed on deployment. A PowerShell script is downloaded and executed to automate the setup of the OutSystems Platform. AWS CLIV2 is downloaded and installed for the two Production Environment EC2 instances.

The Production environment EC2 instances require a connection to a provisioned S3 bucket to exchange files. In order for the EC2 instances to have access to the S3 bucket, an IAM Role and an IAM policy will be provisioned and attached to the Production EC2 instances. An additional IAM Role will be provisioned for RDS monitoring capabilities.

To access the platform get the public IPs of each provisioned EC2 and access the environment using http://<EC2PublicIP>/servicecenter. This will work for all environments except Production, where you need to get the load balancer endpoint.

Accelerates Enterprise App Development, But Debugging and Customization Can Be Challenging

    Reviewed on Oct 31, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about the OutSystems low-code platform is how it accelerates the development of enterprise-grade applications without compromising architectural control. The visual development environment simplifies the handling of complex logic, yet still allows for extensibility through integrations and custom code. Its built-in features for deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management help reduce operational overhead and enhance delivery speed. The platform also ensures consistency across different environments, supports scalable design patterns, and allows for rapid iteration with minimal technical debt. This effective balance between abstraction and control makes OutSystems well-suited for both quick prototyping and the development of long-term strategic systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
One aspect I find frustrating about the OutSystems low-code platform is how it often abstracts too much of the underlying implementation. This can make it difficult to identify performance bottlenecks and can complicate the debugging process. Additionally, the reliance on proprietary constructs restricts both portability and the ability to deeply customise solutions, particularly when working with non-standard systems. I have also noticed that the IDE tends to become sluggish when handling large modules, and the version control integration does not offer the level of granularity typically found in traditional development environments. Altogether, these limitations create challenges when trying to scale complex applications or maintain strict engineering standards across distributed teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OutSystems addresses the challenge of slow and resource-intensive application delivery by supporting rapid development cycles that require little manual coding. By minimizing the need for large development teams, it makes integration with existing systems more straightforward and eases deployment across different environments. As a result, businesses can respond to requirements more quickly, all while maintaining scalability and ensuring long-term maintainability.

Empowers Non-Coders with Intuitive Drag-and-Drop App Creation

    Reviewed on Oct 25, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best feature that I liked about outsystems is that it provides a user interface where we are able to create different type of apps according to our need just by customizable and visual drag and drop options. None of us has a professional knowledge of coding but we have created 6-7 applications for our business for growth and customer retention.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main challenge that we face while using outystems is that all the apps that we develop through this software cannot be launched to other platforms if you want to change the core of these softwares. The quality and range of these apps are very basic and standard in nature for creating complex applications you will have to choose another platform only.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Outsystems easily work on mobile devices and accessing it from different parts of the country help us in managing and customising our business applications. This software has helped us in better customer retention, lead tracking, email marketing and giving our customers 100% satisfaction. So I will recommend that all the small and medium size businesses can try it at least once.

OutSystems Makes App Building Fast and Simple, with Flexibility for Advanced Users

    Reviewed on Oct 24, 2025

What do you like best about the product?
OutSystems is really helpful platform, the amazing thing about it that how it is simplifying the entire process of building applications. We are able to go from an idea to something real in a short amount of time, that too without having any need of write endless code. It has the good flexibility as you cab drag and drop components when you want speed but there is need of coding if you want more advanced features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall it is a great platform but one thing i dislike about it is that while it's great for speeding up development but sometime it feels restrictive when you want full control over the code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has solved the many problems that comes with the method of traditional development. Earlier what happens that building Apps takes long time and involves a lot of manual coding and requires lot of back and forth between the developer and business teams. But with the help of OutSystems, it's cut down all the complexity by giving you a low code platform where you are able to design, build and deploy Apps.

Efficient Low-Code Development with Some Flexibility and Cost Drawbacks.

    Reviewed on Oct 17, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
This low-code platform stands out for being both straightforward and user-friendly, enabling rapid application development with minimal coding effort. Its ease of implementation and seamless integration with various systems make it highly efficient for enterprise solutions. Overall, OutSystems simplifies complex development processes and accelerates digital transformation initiatives effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
While OutSystems offers a robust platform, I sometimes find it limiting when dealing with highly customized needs that extend beyond its visual development tools. The licensing fees can also be quite steep for smaller organizations, and I have noticed that customer support could respond more quickly. Moreover, the frequent updates to the platform often require additional effort to keep up with the latest features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OutSystems addresses the difficulties of slow and complicated application development by offering a low-code, visual development platform. This environment speeds up the process of building, deploying, and maintaining applications, while also making it straightforward to integrate with existing systems. For me, this means I can reduce development time, experience fewer coding errors, and deliver enterprise-grade solutions more quickly and efficiently.
