Product Overview
SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition on Linux with 24/7 cloudimg support. Run Microsoft SQL Server on your preferred Linux distribution with full Bring Your Own License (BYOL) flexibility. This AMI delivers a production ready SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition environment on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Rocky Linux 9 or AlmaLinux 9, pre configured with AWS native tooling for monitoring, automation and secure management.
Why SQL Server on Linux?
Microsoft SQL Server on Linux uses the identical database engine as Windows, delivering full T SQL compatibility, intelligent query processing and in memory OLTP. Running on Linux reduces licensing costs, improves container compatibility and aligns with modern DevOps workflows. Ubuntu, Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux provide enterprise grade stability with long term support.
Bring Your Own License (BYOL)

The AMI includes only the pre installed software, operating system and cloudimg support charges. BYOL is ideal for organizations with existing Microsoft volume licensing or Software Assurance benefits.
