Pricing is based on a fixed subscription cost and actual usage of the product. You pay the same amount each billing period for access, plus an additional amount according to how much you consume. The fixed subscription cost is prorated, so you're only charged for the number of days you've been subscribed. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run this data integration platform on. The two options, m5.2xlarge and m6i.2xlarge, are different compute instances. Each carries its own hourly software rate, billed for every hour the software runs. Choose the instance that fits your performance needs. Your cost scales with how many hours you keep the instance running and which instance type you select. This usage-based model means you pay only for the hours consumed, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do the m5.2xlarge and m6i.2xlarge rates cover, and what runs on them?
Each rate is the hourly software charge for running WhaleTunnel on that EC2 instance type. The platform moves data across databases, warehouses, file systems, streaming systems, and SaaS apps using batch, change-data-capture, and real-time sync. You also pay the separate AWS charge for the underlying instance.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge applies for every hour the instance runs. If you fully stop the instance, the software charge stops accruing. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees, but the software meter counts running hours only.
How do the two instance options differ for my bill?
Both run the same platform and bill by the hour with no upfront commitment. They are different EC2 compute types, each with its own hourly software rate. Pick one instance type; you do not run both at once for the same workload. Your cost tracks the hours that instance runs.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
