Overview
Odoo is an open source suite of business apps. Its Community edition covers CRM, sales, invoicing, inventory, purchasing, manufacturing, projects, a website builder and more, all sharing one database so information flows between departments. This image gives small and growing businesses a working Odoo server in minutes, ready for you to create your company database.
What is included: Odoo 19.0 Community on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with Python, PostgreSQL, Nginx as a reverse proxy on port 80, wkhtmltopdf for printing invoices and reports, and Webmin 2.660 for server administration. Security is on by default: no Odoo database or account ships in the image, so you choose the master password and administrator yourself on first visit. Every instance sets its own Webmin password on first boot, PostgreSQL listens only on the server itself, and SSH accepts key-based login only.
What you get on top of the free software: a pre-built and tested image that is ready in minutes, a unique security setup for every server, simple scripts for changing passwords, regular image updates, and help by email whenever you need it. Odoo Community is open source software licensed under LGPL-3.0. Odoo is a trademark of Odoo S.A. This image is an independent build by ProvenCloud.
Highlights
- Ready in minutes: launch the instance, open its public IP and create your first Odoo database in the browser. Odoo 19, PostgreSQL, Nginx, PDF reports and Webmin are already set up.
- Secure by default: no shared or default passwords. You choose the Odoo master password and administrator yourself on first visit, Webmin gets its own password, PostgreSQL stays local and SSH is key-only.
- One app for the whole business: CRM, sales, invoicing, inventory, purchase, projects, website and more, added as you need them.

Usage instructions
Once the instance is running, enter http://<instance-public-ip> into your browser. Odoo shows its database page: set a master password, a database name and your administrator email and password, then click Create database. Keep the master password safe, because it protects database backups and deletion. Webmin is on port 8000, so open http://<instance-public-ip>:8000 and sign in with admin as the username and your instance ID as the password. You can also connect over SSH with the username ubuntu and your Amazon key pair.
Required inbound ports: 22 (SSH), 80 (Odoo) and 8000 (Webmin). For security, allow ports 22 and 8000 only from your own IP address.
Your instance ID is shown in the EC2 console, for example i-0123456789abcdef0. Every instance sets its own passwords on first boot, so no two instances share a password. Allow two to three minutes after launch for the first-boot setup to finish before you sign in.
Change the Webmin password with sudo bash /home/ubuntu/iscripts/pass_webmin.sh. pass_odoo_master.sh in the same folder resets the Odoo master password if you lose it, and odoo_status.sh shows versions and health.
The image serves plain HTTP so it works on a bare IP address. Before using it in production, add your own domain and an SSL certificate, or place it behind a load balancer with HTTPS.
