A compute credit measures your use of the compute service. Provisioning is serverless, so credits accrue only while compute runs to process your queries or workloads. When no compute runs, no credits accrue. Costs track your actual processing activity rather than a fixed reservation.
The three dimensions bill independently and add together. Compute credits track processing activity. The two storage dimensions each meter storage consumption separately. Compute tends to drive cost for active query workloads, while storage drives cost for large stored data with low activity. All charges appear on the same invoice.
Compute credits accrue only while the compute service runs. With serverless, instant provisioning, compute starts on demand and stops when idle. No compute credits accrue during idle periods. Storage charges continue based on the data you keep stored, since stored data persists regardless of compute activity.
