Overview
Health plans are switching on AI assistants for member benefit questions. These assistants can sound confident and cite a document while stating the wrong copay, quoting another plan's benefits, or answering questions the documents don't cover. FactSpectra Assurance measures how often that happens - automatically, in your own AWS account.
How it works:
- Upload your Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (or point it at an S3 bucket).
- It writes realistic member questions for every plan - deductibles, out-of-pocket limits, office visits, emergency room, imaging, prescriptions, hospital stays, exclusions - plus questions the documents cannot answer. Every expected answer is backed by verbatim quotes checked in code against the page they came from.
- It asks your assistant each question, grades every answer, and produces a scorecard by plan and by question type, with drill-down to the assistant's answer, its citations and the highlighted page from your document.
- Re-run any time - after plan-year updates, configuration changes or AI model updates - and download a printable report for compliance and quality teams.
Built for regulated environments: installs into your AWS account with one CloudFormation template; your documents, questions and results stay in it. Sign-in protected dashboard, HTTPS, least-privilege IAM, encrypted storage, and Claude via Amazon Bedrock or your own Anthropic API key.
Highlights
- Page-proven test sets generated automatically from your own plan documents - every expected answer is backed by verbatim quotes verified against the source page.
- Finds the failures that matter: wrong amounts, wrong-plan answers, missing conditions such as "after deductible", and made-up answers - each shown beside the highlighted source page.
- Runs in your own AWS account against your existing assistant (e.g. Amazon Q in Connect) - one CloudFormation template, and your documents and results stay in your account.

Amazon ECS (Fargate) with CloudFormation
- Amazon ECS
Container image
Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
Version release notes
Initial release. Generates page-proven member questions from your Summary of Benefits and Coverage documents, tests your Amazon Q in Connect assistant (plan-scoped or unscoped), grades every answer, and produces a scorecard with highlighted source pages and a printable report. Deploys into your AWS account on Amazon ECS (Fargate) with one CloudFormation template.

Usage instructions
Install (about 10 minutes):
- Choose the region where your Amazon Connect instance and Amazon Q in Connect assistant run.
- Internet-facing (default): request a free public ACM certificate in that region for a name you control (e.g. assurance.yourplan.com) and validate it by DNS. Or set LoadBalancerScheme=internal to keep the dashboard on private IPs only (reach it over VPN or peering).
- Launch the CloudFormation template (link below) and set: AllowedCidr = your office or VPN range (/8 to /32; 0.0.0.0/0 is rejected); CertificateArn = your certificate ARN (or LoadBalancerScheme=internal). Leave ContainerImage as provided.
- Claude: by default the app uses Claude through Amazon Bedrock in your account - enable Anthropic model access in the Bedrock console first. Optionally paste an Anthropic API key in AnthropicApiKey instead (stored only in Secrets Manager).
- Acknowledge IAM resource creation and choose Create stack. It reaches CREATE_COMPLETE in about 5-8 minutes.
- Create a DNS CNAME from your certificate's name to the DashboardUrl output.
Sign in:
- Open the AdminPasswordConsoleUrl output, choose Retrieve secret value and copy the password (generated at install; never typed into the template). Open https://<your-domain> and sign in.
Use:
- Upload your Summary of Benefits and Coverage PDFs (or put them in the DocumentsBucket output). The app writes page-proven test questions, finds your Q in Connect assistant automatically (set QConnectAssistantId only if the region has more than one), runs the tests and shows the scorecard, each failure with the highlighted source page, and a printable report.
Billing: software is billed hourly per running ECS task through AWS Marketplace; AWS infrastructure (ECS, ALB, EFS, S3, Bedrock) is billed by AWS separately (about USD 70-75/month for a small always-on install).
Remove: delete the stack. The documents bucket, access-log bucket and EFS data are kept on purpose; delete them manually when no longer needed.
