Overview
ScaleOut In-Memory Database™ provides a breakthrough new execution platform for Redis applications that integrates open-source Redis®* code into ScaleOut's industry-leading, patented clustering architecture. ScaleOut In-Memory Database enables enterprise Redis users to benefit from automated cluster management and fully consistent data storage that lowers total cost of ownership (TCO). In addition, it uses multi-threaded execution to automatically take advantage of all processing cores.
ScaleOut In-Memory Database incorporates open-source Redis code that delivers native behavior and performance for all popular Redis data structures (including strings, lists, sets, hashes, sorted sets, streams, hyperloglog, and geospatial), transactions, pubsub, and the Redis client/server protocol. Applications also can access all the features of ScaleOut Stateserver® side-by-side with Redis data storage.
ScaleOut In-Memory Database runs Redis commands on a cluster of AMIs. It uses fully automatic clustering for scaling, load-balancing, data replication, recovery, and parallel backup/restore. There's no need to manually manage hash slots and shards. AWS instances include Standard Support for ScaleOut In-Memory Database. Premium support packages are available directly from ScaleOut Software.

Highlights
- Automated Clustering: Self-organizes by automatically combining server instances into a uniformly accessible and scalable cluster. No configuration steps are required for load-balancing, creating replicas, or recovering from server outages.
- Full Consistency: Implements Redis updates and transactions to replicas with full consistency (instead of open-source Redis' eventual consistency) to ensure stale data is never served to clients after a server or network outage.
- Multi-Core processing: Delivers maximum throughput by using multiple threads to automatically run Redis commands for different hash slots on all available cores. (Avoids single-threaded event-loop design used in open-source Redis.)

Standard Cluster Deployment
This deployment offering launches a configurable number of EC2 instances running in a Placement Group as part of an Auto-Scaling Group with configurable instance tenancy and a single publicly-accessible network subnet. There are no auto-scaling rules or CloudWatch Alarms configured by default, but they can be manually added after deployment. All instances launched as part of this deployment will all automatically discover each other at startup to form a single, cohesive, in-memory data grid membership.
CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."

Usage instructions
To administer this product after deployment, if the Web Management Console was enabled, please visit http://<server>:4000/console/ (port 4000 is configurable during deployment). Alternatively, ScaleOut Software, Inc. provides ScaleOut Management Console on Windows, which can be installed separately and used for both deployment and management.
To acquire these tools on your management workstation, download and install the latest ScaleOut StateServer Remote Client installer for Linux operating systems or the ScaleOut StateServer installer for Windows systems from our Support Downloads page: http://www.scaleoutsoftware.com/support/support-downloads/ . On Windows operating systems, select the Remote Client/Cloud Mgt. setup type.
Once installed, please see the ScaleOut StateServer User Guide for step-by-step instructions to manage ScaleOut StateServer on Amazon Web Services. This help file can be found in the product installation directory on your local system, or online at http://www.scaleoutsoftware.com/support/product-documentation/ . On Windows systems, this help file is also available in the Start menu. Once opened, please review the sections under Deploying SOSS in the Cloud, including both the Overview and Deploying in Amazon Web Services sections.
Client applications running as a single instance or as multiple instances can connect to and make use of a deployed in-memory data grid using APIs provided by the ScaleOut StateServer Remote Client libraries. Client applications can run either within Amazon Web Services or on remote client systems. Please install the ScaleOut Remote Client libraries on all instances or servers that need to access a deployed in-memory data grid. Follow the instructions in the Product Documentation to enable a client application to dynamically connect to a named data grid within Amazon Web Services. These instructions explain how to configure the client configuration file, soss_client_params.txt, which the user stages in the ScaleOut StateServer installation folder on each client instance or remote client system prior to starting the client application.
The following packages are downloaded on deployment: Boto Python package
