AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance size you run. All ten options bill on the same usage model, so you add the hourly software rate to your underlying AWS compute cost. The choices split into two families: m5a and m5 general-purpose instances, and r5a and r5 memory-focused instances. Within each family, sizes scale from xlarge up to 8xlarge, with more CPU and memory at each step. You pick the instance that matches your reporting workload, and larger instances carry higher hourly rates.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do the m5a/m5 and r5a/r5 instance options give me for the hourly rate?
Each option maps to an AWS EC2 instance type. The m5a and m5 families are general-purpose, balancing CPU and memory. The r5a and r5 families provide more memory for data-heavy reporting. The size label (xlarge through 8xlarge) sets how much CPU and memory you get.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when the instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the stopped instance. Charges resume once you start the instance again.
How does this hourly billing compare to buying an annual subscription?
On AWS Marketplace you pay by the hour with no upfront commitment, metering actual instance-hours. The vendor also sells an annual subscription through its sales team, billed as a flat term fee instead of hourly. Hourly suits variable reporting workloads; the annual route suits steady, continuous use.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources.
