Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor, and additional usage. You pay upfront or in installments according to your contract terms with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. Usage-based pricing is in effect for overages or additional usage not covered in the contract. These charges are applied on top of the contract price. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before the contract end date, access to your entitlements will expire.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
This contract bundles many independent usage dimensions that you commit to under one Enterprise agreement. Each dimension bills by its own unit. Host-based dimensions (Infra Enterprise Hosts, APM Hosts, Network Hosts, Profiled Hosts) price per monitored host. Container and device dimensions price per container or device. Log dimensions split by ingestion (per GB) and indexing (per million events, with 15-day or 30-day retention). Synthetics price per batch of test runs, and Real User Monitoring per 10K sessions. Custom Metrics bill per 100 metrics. You mix and match these units to match your workload. Several listed dimensions are deprecated for new customers.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one billable APM Host for the APM Hosts dimension?
An APM Host is any host actively generating traces sent to Datadog, including an OpenTelemetry Collector. Hosts running services that are not instrumented, such as databases, caches, queues, and load balancers, do not count even if APM is enabled on them. Containers running on a host do not change the per-host count.
What happens if I ingest or index more logs than my committed Indexed and Ingested Logs amounts?
Ingested Logs bill per GB of uncompressed data processed. Indexed Logs bill per million log events, with 15-day or 30-day retention options. If your log volume exceeds your committed amount, the extra volume is billed at the overage rate. A high-volume day alone does not raise your bill if your monthly average stays within commitment.
How do the APM Hosts and App Analytics dimensions combine on my bill?
They bill independently and both appear on the same invoice. APM Hosts price per monitored host and include a default span ingestion and indexing allotment summed across all your APM hosts. App Analytics bills per million analyzed spans with 15-day retention, covering spans you retain beyond that allotment. Host count usually drives the base cost.
