Each option maps to allocated processing cores that handle traffic inspection. A 4C option provides 4 cores, 8C provides 8, and 16C provides 16. More cores handle more throughput. You are billed by the hour for the size you select, so higher core counts cost more per hour.
Charges apply per hour while the instance runs. This is pay-as-you-go with no upfront commitment. When you stop the software, hourly software charges stop accruing. Underlying AWS infrastructure fees, such as storage, may still apply separately even when the firewall is not actively running.
The base Professional line delivers firewall protection on its own. The Professional line With VPN Concentrator Add on bundles remote-access VPN capability at the same core sizes.
