AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for a hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 image running on ARM-based EC2 instances. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the size and family you choose. Options span general purpose, compute, memory, and storage-optimized families, plus bare-metal variants. Smaller sizes like nano and micro carry lower hourly rates, while larger and metal instances cost more. You pay only for the hours you run, with no upfront commitment. The image adds a security-hardened configuration to the operating system across all instance choices.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover for a given instance dimension?
Each dimension meters one hour of runtime for that specific ARM-based EC2 instance type. The rate covers the hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 image running on the chosen instance. Partial hours and the underlying AWS compute may bill separately under AWS terms.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly image charge. Note that AWS may still bill for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the image licence itself meters active runtime.
What does the hardened configuration add to the base operating system?
The image applies security-hardening to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. Configurations follow recognized secure-baseline recommendations to reduce system vulnerabilities against threats like unauthorized data access and denial of service. This hardening applies the same way across every instance dimension you select.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
