    TinyStatus Static Web Appliance

     Info
    Deployed on AWS
    AWS Free Tier
TinyStatus is a lightweight, ready-to-run static web appliance with an HTTP health endpoint, secure response headers, and no runtime dependency on seller-operated services.

    Overview

TinyStatus provides a minimal static website origin for status pages, maintenance notices, internal documentation, and simple web content. It starts automatically, serves customer-managed files from /srv/tinystatus/public, and exposes /healthz for load balancer or uptime checks. The appliance uses Amazon Linux 2023 and NGINX, requires no license key, does not collect or export customer data, and has no runtime dependency on services operated by the seller. Customers retain full administrative access through the ec2-user account and sudo.

    Highlights

    • Ready after launch: NGINX starts automatically and serves a functional default page.
    • Operations-friendly: /healthz, standard NGINX logs, systemd service management, and a local validation command are included.
    • Minimal data footprint: no telemetry, seller backchannel, account registration, license server, or external runtime dependency.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Additional details

    Usage instructions

Launch on t3.micro or larger with an 8 GiB or larger unencrypted EBS root volume. Allow TCP 80 from intended clients. Allow TCP 22 only from trusted administrator IP ranges and select an EC2 key pair at launch. Connect as ec2-user and use sudo for administration; password login and direct root login are disabled. Open http://<instance-public-dns>/ and check curl -fsS http://<instance-public-dns>/healthz. Customer content is stored in /srv/tinystatus/public. Validate with sudo /opt/tinystatus/bin/validate.sh. Logs are in /var/log/nginx/access.log and /var/log/nginx/error.log. Customer content is stored unencrypted on the root EBS volume by default. TinyStatus contains no proprietary datastore, customer secrets, or application cryptographic material. Back up customer content with EBS snapshots or your normal backup process. There is no in-place product upgrade path: launch the latest AMI, restore customer content, validate, and redirect traffic. TinyStatus creates no additional AWS resources and requires no service quota increase. Software charges are $0.00; standard EC2, EBS, snapshot, data transfer, and related AWS infrastructure charges apply.
