Automation has freed our team’s time and now storage alignment needs further improvement

    Reviewed on Mar 06, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM)  is used for infrastructure management of the client environment, where Nutanix hosts are deployed to manage hundreds of thousands of VMs on those hosts.

    What is most valuable?

The best features of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM)  include the software update functionality that allows managing everything in one place, where you can go to the software and update everything tab by tab, such as LCM, inventory, AOS , hypervisor, and file server. Prism Central and Prism Element allow checking all clusters on one page, and if you want to jump to a specific cluster, you can go into Prism Element. The support that Nutanix provides is also excellent, as they monitor the backend. The type of support depends on the package you select.

Using the built-in playbooks in Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) has freed up a lot of time for my IT team and me, allowing us to focus on other tasks. In terms of time saved, if I calculate my weekly workload, we save around 70 to 72 hours per week, which allows us to handle other tasks.

The speed of outcomes using low-code automation is very smooth, and I have not found any significant issues while updating the LCM and all the other components. It is really valuable to have the firmware bundled and directly downloaded to the environment without requiring manual intervention. Although other companies have started adopting similar firmware delivery methods, Nutanix has truly revolutionized this.

    What needs improvement?

In terms of areas for improvement, I believe there is a need for redesigning some aspects on the storage level, as physical and virtual storage currently operate under different parameters in Nutanix. The space allocated should be more aligned between physical storage and the initial disk attached to the host, depending on the kind of host being used.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for six or seven years, and I have worked on Nutanix since 2019.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In terms of stability, I would rate Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) at eight or nine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For scalability with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), I believe it is a scalable solution, and I would rate it a six or seven.

How are customer service and support?

When it comes to technical support for Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), I would rate it as good, around a seven or eight. Since a 7.5 rating is not available, I would say the technical support is between seven to eight.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have tested other solutions such as VMware and Azure , but I prefer Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) because it provides a better learning experience, and many things are still under the control of the client using it. This is unlike Azure  or AWS , where there is very limited visibility in the backend, with only 50 percent access while more than half of the control is maintained by Microsoft or Amazon. Nutanix Cloud is quite different and more user-friendly, feeling a combination of on-premises and cloud.

When comparing Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) to other solutions regarding setup, learning curve, and ease of use, I find it good because it is smoother than other setups and not very complicated. It feels very direct and straightforward.

    How was the initial setup?

Deployment with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is easy and not very complex. It takes some time, but it is easy to understand and implement quickly.

    What about the implementation team?

The deployment duration for Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) depends on the project. It typically takes two to three months to set up from scratch, including all approvals, with timelines ranging from one week to two weeks.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding the pricing of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), I would rate it at a four or five, as it is not very costly and presents good value.

What other advice do I have?

My clients utilizing Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) include all types, such as small, medium, and enterprise businesses, depending on the client strength and infrastructure.

Assessing Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) for helping my team meet current automation needs while planning for future expansion, it depends on the client side regarding their automation requirements, and we move forward accordingly.

I work with various industries while using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), including insurance, FMCG, and banking, depending on the client environment and whether they are using it.

The number of users in my company that work with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) varies from project to project, with a minimum of 100, but it can go up to 1,000 or 2,000 depending on the project size and client environment.

My overall rating for this review is 7.

Lifecycle automation has improved patching and simplified managing multi‑cloud workloads

    Reviewed on Mar 04, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

For Nutanix Cloud Manager, I am supporting the Dubai Holding client using Nutanix Cloud environment, where they have some database setup and application setup.

I set up the environment initially for twelve hundred missions, but after decommissioning some missions and applications, the total missions count is nine hundred eighty missions, with two clusters in place.

I work primarily with the AWS-based deployments of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM)  as a service, focusing on environments that utilize its capabilities.

    What is most valuable?

I particularly appreciate the life cycle management feature of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), which allows for one-click upgrades of firmware, the system, hypervisor, and AOS  components, simplifying patching and reducing risks compared to traditional environments.

I also value the high availability feature, which improves uptime and reduces manual interventions, especially during host failures.

These features, along with easy VM provisioning, have greatly enhanced my operational efficiency.

The self-service feature has significantly improved my ability to manage and deploy new missions quickly. I define the VM configuration with CPU, RAM, disk, and select images using templates, creating an admin blueprint and implementing role-based access for streamlined deployments through Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM). This allows for easy catalog publishing and efficient VM deployments with defined settings.

I use the runbook feature primarily for basic automation tasks. It allows me to schedule start and stop operations for VMs, and it is particularly useful for tasks such as patching scheduled every Friday at midnight.

The runbook facilitates bulk operations and reduces manual interventions by standardizing operational tasks.

In intelligent operations, I primarily use features such as health checks, intelligent alerts for high CPU and memory usage, and storage latency issues. I also focus on performance analytics and forecasting capacities, which are essential in my environment.

While I find intelligent operations generally intuitive, I have encountered challenges, such as the need for long-level troubleshooting for specific VMs when dashboards provide only high-level insights.

Additionally, there are occasional UI performance issues during large-scale operations, causing delays when loading detailed analytics.

Regarding the security posture, I am part of a separate team that monitors security visibility, which provides a centralized view of cluster and VM security. It helps highlight misconfigurations and risky settings, and I use it for compliance monitoring against security benchmarks.

    What needs improvement?

I would appreciate improvements in handling pre-check failures for beginners, particularly compatibility mismatches and issues with unsupported driver versions during upgrades or patches.

Sometimes, Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) requires manual inventory refreshes, which could be enhanced for smoother operations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM)  for the last two to three years, utilizing multiple tools, including the Hyper V environment, Azure  environment, and our on-premises environments.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

My experience with the stability and reliability of Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) has been consistently positive, reflecting confidence in its performance.

How are customer service and support?

I rate Nutanix technical support a nine out of ten. Their prompt resolution to tickets and the quality of technical analysis and meetings ensure that issues are handled efficiently, although sometimes it may take longer for more complex problems.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

    How was the initial setup?

During deployment and setup processes, I appreciate that life cycle management performs node-by-node updates while keeping workloads running, effectively minimizing downtime. I always conduct pre-checks for compatibility before starting any upgrade, which has proven invaluable for maintaining reliability.

What other advice do I have?

Currently, I am not utilizing the cost visibility feature, as my access does not extend to that, and I am focused on infrastructure management and scheduling patches.

I have not personally witnessed measurable outcomes regarding cost savings from using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), but it is evident that by using performance analytics, I can optimize resource allocation across multiple VMs, leading to potential savings and more efficient IT management.

My experience with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) pricing, although I am newer to it with about two and a half years of direct engagement, has been relatively positive, and I am still learning more about its offerings.

For organizations considering Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), I suggest focusing on addressing minor issues related to lagging and dashboard errors, which I believe will be resolved in future versions.

I provide this review with an overall rating of ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Automation has transformed disaster recovery and made self-service provisioning extremely fast

    Reviewed on Feb 26, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM)  is that we are deploying Nutanix for the customer and helping them with Nutanix Cloud Platform where the customer is running infrastructure on Nutanix. We have helped them with disaster recovery automation, network micro-segmentation, and related services.

We have a very large customer where we have provided disaster recovery with self-service capabilities. This leaf serves as a disaster recovery solution where we can get automated disaster recovery in the disaster recovery environment with one click. Disaster recovery happens with the leaf with synchronization and real-time synchronization. For micro-segmentation, we are using Nutanix Flow for the network micro-segmentation.

Majorly, the customer is looking for disaster recovery and network micro-segmentation solutions. One more use case is where we deployed Nutanix file. The customer required object storage where we created S3  buckets and Nutanix file serves as a NAS  and unified solution. The customer deployed their Kubernetes  platform on Nutanix where we assigned Nutanix file as a read-write many. This is a very large use case for us to deploy for a customer.

    What is most valuable?

The best proper feature is Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM)  where we can get AI Ops, where we can get help from online with the Nutanix portal as well. The second one is self-service and automation.

Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) uses machine learning driven inside to help optimize the capacity, detect performance and automate routine tasks, including enforcing future needs to be automatically resolved. The proactive issue detection helps teams stay ahead of outages.

Another feature is self-service automation which we are using for customers in Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM). Fast provisioning is one of the good features that helps my organization where my team is seeing dynamic improvement to how quickly infrastructure and services are provisioned.

    What needs improvement?

Based on my experience with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM), it is a very good product and very good platform where we can deploy multiple things. However, I feel that simpler onboarding and learning curves are needed as some users find the initial setup and configuration planning requires expertise. This is significant and required for the customer and there we need to improve.

One more thing that I want from Nutanix is that there is one feature that is lagging. When I am a PS partner or a SI service provider where I deploy Nutanix for a customer, I need a feature in the Nutanix portal where I can download the as-build guide or runbook from the portal as well as on my cluster on my Prism Central or from Prism Element. Somewhere this option may be included in the future where the engineer can download easily and hand it over to customer. This would help to build a fresh document.

As I already mentioned some of the improvement points, one is the documentation gathering. The as-build guide is very important for engineers or persons who are using Nutanix.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) is now stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is easy to scale Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM). We can scale a cluster with expansion cluster as well.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support is also good. Response time from support is very minimal.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In my few last experiences where we have migrated workloads running on the cloud and the customer was paying X of Y amount on the cloud, after the migration from the cloud to on-premises on Nutanix, the customer has now saved cost and currently they are very happy with the solution on Nutanix. Their infrastructure is running on on-premises Nutanix with Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM).

Previously, we were using Cloud One as well as VMware. Now, today due to cost-effectiveness, we moved or almost every customer has moved to Nutanix.

    How was the initial setup?

I work for a very large organization where 500 Nutanix nodes are deployed. In that scenario, when a customer is requested for a couple of VMs to be provisioned, we created 100 plus virtual machines. This can help with resource utilization and all the related things.

What other advice do I have?

I give an example where we integrated our ticketing tool with the self-service portal where I can get notifications and automation where I can easily manage my infrastructure with automation with a third-party tool.

As I see in this current scenario and today, Nutanix cost and pricing is lower than the different OEM or vendor options.

Faster outcome is very extremely important for most organizations today. Business agility and time to market in the competition market directly impact revenue and growth. Faster provisioning is very good in Nutanix where we can deploy fast and quick outcomes with faster environment setup and fast scaling.

Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) has a feature called Calm or self-service where we are using automation. Before, it was that if the application team needed a VM to deploy their application, I would go to the VM creation and deploy the operating system and deploy the binaries. It would take a lot of time. However, in their self-service portal, I use the template and with one click, we can get the VM very quickly. For example, manually, I spend two to three hours to build all components where I click in the self-service and my playbook is running and quickly in five to seven minutes, I can get the VM.

I give the advice to others to start with clear objectives. Nutanix offers fast provisioning, cost visibility, governance and compliance. All of these features are available. Being with the focus use cases such as common VM provisioning workflow and standard application blueprints, which are all available. I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.

Secure cloud workspace has delivered low downtime and supports global role‑based access

    Reviewed on Feb 25, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM)  is used to provide applications to users worldwide, which Deutsche Bank requires to ensure accessibility for their end user environment, whether through official laptops or end user devices like mobile and BYOD.

We are responsible for providing the image for their devices, and we ensure different profiles are created based on their roles, granting access accordingly based on their roles and responsibility on respective applications as defined with Deutsche Bank.

    What is most valuable?

One of the best features of NCM is that it provides a very stable environment. If you plan it properly, you can achieve a very robust environment where, from a security point of view, it is extremely good with minimal downtime.

Over the last four to five years, we hardly had any downtime, which is attributable to Nutanix.

This stems from the guidelines provided to us, and by following proper R2 security factors and right disaster recovery processes with appropriate configurations, backups, and screenshots, the environment remains stable.

I find the service and support from Nutanix to be very good compared to other OEM vendors.

I assess the speed of outcomes we receive using low-code automation as not extensively utilized on the automation part, but my team was capable of implementing some based on customer requirements.

We had architects from our side suggesting implementations, and we implemented patiently, creating a very good environment for the customer where their specific requirements were captured, keeping the customer happy and ensuring they felt they were in the right hands.

    What needs improvement?

In terms of improvement areas for NCM, I strongly believe they need to train people on their environment, similar to how Azure  provides free coupons for service providers to build strong support teams.

This would ensure resources are well-trained to support Nutanix.

Additionally, quicker response times from local service provider resources could greatly enhance customer satisfaction and confidence, especially during issues or downtimes, preventing business loss.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM)  for almost four years for one of my customers called Deutsche Bank.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Over the last four to five years, we hardly had any downtime, which is attributable to Nutanix.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For scalability, considering we have large clients, I would rate it a nine.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate the technical support from NCM at a five.

While the technical staff are good, their process of transferring issues from one person to another has ample room for improvement.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Initially, our clients used Atos  data centers, but due to costs, we decided to move them to AWS .

    How was the initial setup?

When comparing NCM to other solutions in terms of setup, learning curve, and ease of use, the setup involved Deutsche Bank, our old customer looking for a secured and stable environment.

We had two architects aligned for this account, and from the delivery side, I was aligned as well.

We configured the entire architecture with the help of Nutanix's suggestions, resulting in one of the most stable environments I have encountered in my twenty-five years of experience.

    What about the implementation team?

My team was capable of implementing solutions based on customer requirements.

We had architects from our side suggesting implementations, and we implemented patiently, creating a very good environment for the customer.

    What was our ROI?

I do not have detailed figures available about how much time Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) saves, as architects are responsible for that, but I believe there is an estimated difference of at least ten to twenty percent.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I would rate Nutanix at around three or four.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

When comparing Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) to other vendors or solutions such as VMware, IBM, Cisco, and Morpheus , I find Nutanix much more cost-effective.

As premium costs rise along with the growth of their environments, we are actively trying to convert customers to Nutanix due to its better cost efficiency compared to EMC and others.

What other advice do I have?

My clients are global enterprises, with Deutsche Bank being one of the renowned banks in Europe and having a significant presence everywhere.

My final rating for the product is nine out of ten, but not for support.
