The Perspectives platform is data agnostic and includes a comprehensive set of data integrators for traditional relational databases, schema-less graph databases, RESTful APIs, and more, that can populate a model from a data source. Some integrators are a bidirectional bridge between a data source and a model, and support writing model data back to the data source.
Perspectives handles complex visualization requirements with features like nested drawings, advanced node and edge labeling, precise shape clipping, port and connectors controls, and incremental layout to see the superstructure of your data and produce visually clear graphs that are understood by domain experts and stakeholders alike. Model-Based Engineering saves systems engineers from hours of time manipulating incomplete and inelegantly arranged drawings to meet the demands of various stakeholders. Previously, systems engineers spent 80% of their time arranging diagrams, but using Model-Based Engineering, that number drops to only 5%. You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. The eleven options map to three instance families. The t3 sizes (large, xlarge, 2xlarge) suit lighter workloads. The m5 sizes (large through 4xlarge) balance compute and memory. The c5 sizes (xlarge through 9xlarge) target compute-heavy work. Within each family, price scales with the instance size you choose, so larger instances with more CPU and memory cost more per hour. You select the instance that matches your workload and pay only for the hours you use.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what am I actually renting for that price?
Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select. You rent the software packaged in an Amazon Machine Image, running on that instance size. The instance family and size set the CPU and memory you get, and the hourly rate reflects that instance's resources.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped, for example overnight or during idle periods?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. When you stop the instance, software billing stops. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software meter counts running hours only. You pay for the hours you use.
If I switch from a t3 instance to a c5 instance, does my rate change automatically?
Yes. Billing follows whichever instance type is running. If you launch a c5 instance instead of a t3, you pay that instance type's hourly rate for the hours it runs. Each of the eleven types bills at its own rate, so changing type changes your cost.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Tom Sawyer Perspectives 13.6.0 introduces the annotations graph commenting system that allows users to capture and organize context directly within their graphs, improving clarity and supporting more effective visualization and understanding. Also, support has been added for QLever databases, Amazon Neptune Analytics graph engines, and for Java date and time APIs.
The new layout on interactive diagramming option preserves orthogonality of edges on drop actions in order to to provide cleaner handling of dynamic interactions and more stable and visually consistent diagrams. Hierarchical layout with polyline edge routing with a medium layout quality setting is now up to 10% faster.
Perspectives has been upgraded to Spring Framework 6.2.17, and Spring Boot 3.5.13. Also, many third-party libraries have been updated to eliminate potential vulnerabilities.

Usage instructions
Launch a new EC2 instance, accepting the default Security Group as recommended. (If using the Business Process module, the minimum recommended instance size is xlarge.)
After the instance is finished initializing, connect to your new instance via Microsoft Remote Desktop as Administrator. To find your EC2 connection information, go to the Instance Summary of the EC2 you just launched, click the "Connect" button, and follow instructions to use RDP client, where you can "Download remote desktop file", and "Get Password" for Administrator.
Once connected, you will see the Windows desktop with the Tom Sawyer Perspectives Launch Center shortcut icon, where you can click to open Tom Sawyer Perspectives and other modules which are included with this purchase.
