Overview
The BoxLang core, on its own, doesn't have knowledge about a web application. Our web support runtime provides this functionality, which is a crucial part of the MiniServer and the Servlet (JEE, Jakarta, CommandBox) runtime. This runtime enhances the core BoxLang runtime, making it multi-runtime and web deployable.
There is no servlet container; the web server is just a simple, fast, and pure Java Undertow server. We will use the boxlang-miniserver binary to start servers.

You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, storage, or GPU capacity you select. The software comes pre-configured as a Red Hat-based image, so you choose the instance that fits your workload and pay only for the hours you use. No upfront commitment or fixed term applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each instance runs a Red Hat-based image pre-configured with the BoxLang MiniServer runtime. You get a ready-to-use BoxLang environment without manual setup. You choose the EC2 instance size, launch it, and start deploying applications. The hourly charge covers this pre-built runtime on your selected instance.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees for the instance may still apply through AWS, but the software meters running hours only.
One unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. Each dimension maps to a single AWS instance size with set compute, memory, storage, or GPU capacity. Running two instances bills two hourly charges at the matching rate.
