This listing offers one pricing dimension: the Desktop unit. You buy under a contract, and each unit covers one desktop computer. Pricing scales by the number of desktops you protect — add more units as your device count grows. There are no separate tiers or add-on charges in this listing. Every unit provides the same desktop backup coverage, so your total cost depends only on how many desktops you license.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one Desktop unit for billing?
One Desktop unit licenses one desktop computer. You license each machine separately, and the count is per computer, not per user. Desktop backup covers Windows, macOS, and Linux workstations. If you protect five desktops, you need five units. Add units as your device count grows.
What backup features does the Desktop unit include?
Each Desktop unit provides file-level and image-based backup for desktops. You get flexible scheduling, customizable retention settings, and AES encryption with 128-, 192-, or 256-bit key sizes. You choose your own cloud or local storage destination. File versioning and consistency checks help verify recoverability.
Does the Desktop unit cover servers or virtual machines too?
No. The Desktop unit protects desktop workstations only, running Windows, macOS, or Linux. Server backup, SQL Server backup, and virtual machine backup are separate offerings and are not part of this desktop coverage. If you need to protect servers or VMs, those require different licensing.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that MSP360 Backup is free to use. I think it's a very comprehensive tool and not difficult to use. I appreciate that I can back up my whole Windows system for a bare metal restore if needed, to the cloud and to Cloudflare, which is extremely cheap. It lets me back up terabytes for just a few dollars a month and set up automatic backups. The number of options is amazing, allowing me to tailor it exactly to my needs. It's pretty incredible.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the options in MSP360 Backup are a little advanced, even for someone like me who has worked in the IT space for about a decade. I had to Google search some of the options to understand what they were. The setup wasn't the easiest because of this, but it did allow me to tailor and customize the tool to my needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use MSP360 Backup to back up my entire system for a full restore later. It allows cloud backups, solving the problem of having only local full restores. I can back up terabytes cheaply and automatically, making it comprehensive and easy to use.

MSP360 Managed Backup: Simple, Cost-Effective, and Rock-Solid Reliable
Reviewed on Jun 10, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like MSP360 Managed Backup because it strikes a great balance between simplicity, cost, and reliability. The platform is very easy to set up and manage, making day-to-day backup tasks straightforward without a lot of overhead. It’s also a cost‑effective solution, particularly for MSP environments where scaling needs to stay affordable. Most importantly, it’s reliable — backups run consistently, and restores work when you need them. On top of that, their support is excellent; when you do need help, it’s responsive and genuinely useful. Overall, it’s a solid, no-fuss backup solution that does exactly what it ’s supposed to do.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside to MSP360 Managed Backup is that it doesn’t offer the same level of granular control over backup settings as some other, more advanced platforms. For users who want to fine-tune every aspect of their backup jobs, policies, and retention rules, this can feel a bit limited. That said, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The more streamlined approach reduces complexity and makes the platform much easier to manage on a day-to-day basis. In many cases, having fewer overly technical options actually helps avoid misconfiguration and keeps things running smoothly, which can be a big advantage in busy MSP environments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MSP360 Backup solves the problem of delivering a modern, reliable backup solution without the high costs and operational overhead that often come with more complex platforms. Many traditional backup systems require significant investment in both licensing and ongoing management, which can be difficult to justify for clients. By being more cost-effective, MSP360 allows us to provide a robust backup solution at a lower price point. This makes it much easier to position to clients, as they’re getting a modern, professional-grade service without feeling like they’re overpaying. In turn, that helps improve client satisfaction and makes backup an easier conversation commercially. It also significantly reduces the amount of upkeep required. Unlike other platforms that need frequent tuning, maintenance, or infrastructure management, MSP360 is fairly low-maintenance. This means less time spent managing the backup environment and more time focusing on other areas of support, while still having confidence that backups are running as expected.

What do you like best about the product?
It was okay for backups but was confusing, and files were unmanageable as it had a different storage upload mechanism
What do you dislike about the product?
It was buggy and unreliable and hence changed the name from cloudberry backup. Integrations were also finicky
